OPPO held its third annual Inno Day this week and announced new products. On the first day of the event, they announced its new OPPO Air Glass assisted reality device.
OPPO Air Glass is now official!
The OPPO Air Glass aims to give helpful information to users without having them switch screens. This device is like a monocle since it can be worn on one side of your face. It also comes with two parts, the lens, and the frame.
The frame carries the Snapdragon Wear 4100 Platform chipset, touch bar for the controls, dual microphones, and a speaker. Meanwhile, the lens features a self-built Spark Micro Projector that projects information through five-element glass lenses using micro-LED technology.
The Spark Micro Projector measure only 0.5cc of the same size as a coffee bean. According to OPPO, the total weight of their Air Glass is just 30g. Despite its small size, the micro-LED technology allows the projector to achieve excellent brightness.
The information displayed on the glass has a maximum brightness of 1,400 nits to stay readable in different light environments. It can also project the content in either 16-level grayscale or 256-level grayscale.
This OPPO Air Glass can display applications such as Weather, Calendar, Health, Navigation, or Teleprompter. It also features a built-in translation, allowing for cross-cultural conversation between two persons wearing Air Glass. Out of the box, there will be a two-way translation between Mandarin Chinese and English. Mandarin Chinese – Japanese, and Korean will be available later.
Moreover, it can only pair with the OPPO Watch 2 and smartphones running ColorOS 11 or later. It means that it is not only compatible with OPPO devices but also with OnePlus smartphones running ColorOS. If you wear OPPO Watch 2, you can control this Air Glass with hand or head gestures, touch, and voice as well.
Price and availability
OPPO does not announce the price yet, but it will be available in China in the first quarter of 2022. There is also no information for the local availability, so stay updated!
