MediaTek has revealed that it is the first TV SoC manufacturer to integrate Dolby Vision IQ with Precision Detail. This feature will be supported in MediaTek’s Pentonic series for 8K and 4K smart TVs.
Dolby Vision IQ with Precision Detail
MediaTek has collaborated with Dolby to support Dolby’s advanced new imaging technologies including features for gaming in Dolby Vision. To recall, the Dolby Vision IQ is a new feature that automatically changes HDR TVs settings based on lighting conditions in the room. While MediaTek Pentonic series is an innovative technology in TV display, audio, AI, broadcasting, and connectivity.
TV OEMs will begin adopting this integration of technologies after releasing this 2nd half of 2022. The Dolby Vision IQ with Precision will allow revealing incredible detail in both bright and dark areas. Images take on a new level with increased texture and depth on 8K and 4K smart TVs, with stunning crispness.
Paired the MediaTek’s Intelligent View technology and Dolby’s newest breakthroughs in image technology can process multiple Dolby Vision streams simultaneously. Consumers may now view numerous media sources in Dolby Vision in several windows at the same time.

MediaTek Pentonic also enhances gameplay by supporting Dolby Vision gaming capabilities. This includes enhancements that TV OEMs will be able to provide to their consumers, such as Dolby Vision gaming at 4K 120Hz.
Furthermore, Pentonic chips will significantly reduce latency and display upgrades when gaming in Dolby Vision. Thanks to Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) feature that results in a much-improved gaming experience for players.
