GCash, an e-wallet service, reportedly blocks over 900,000 users suspected of fraud this Q1 2022 as part of its combined efforts with regulators to improve app security and fraud management.
GCash launches #GCheckMuna campaign against fraud
They stated that they are partnering with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in its fight against online fraudsters. To ensure client safety and security, GCash strictly adheres to the guidelines of the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas and the Anti-Money Laundering Council.
Moreover, GCash also launched the #GCheckMuna campaign. This campaign allows GCash users to protect themselves and become more vigilant in the face of fraud. To secure accounts, GCash’s GCheck offers the following advice:
- Never share your MPIN or one-time password (OTP) with anybody. Scammers frequently act as a GCash official or a friend to fool you into providing your OTP. Keep in mind that your MPIN and OTP are only for you.
Only conduct GCash-related transactions within the app. Scammers may utilize similar-looking phishing sites to request users to authenticate or log in. Be aware of this scam! Only use the GCash app when prompted to verify or log in.
Be careful who you transact with. Before making any online purchase, do your research and read reviews on the goods and the seller.
Only go to official GCash channels. Go to the GCash Help Center if you have any inquiries. Never share your queries on social media for your own safety. GCash will never send a personal message to resolve issues.

GCash also encourages customers to report fraud using Chat with Gigi, the company’s newest beta chatbot. In fact, reported pages are taken down within 24 hours, so don’t hesitate to report these scammers.
