MediaTek announced the Filogic 880 and Filogic 380 chipsets, the first complete Wi-Fi 7 platforms for access points and clients.
This Filogic 880 and 380 will power the next generation of connectivity with the fastest and most reliable Wi-Fi 7 experiences. These chipsets will allow manufacturers to develop cutting-edge products with the latest connectivity technology.
Filogic 880 is a complete platform that combines a Wi-Fi 7 access point with a new powerful host processor technology. That is to deliver the finest router and gateway solution for operators, retailers, and enterprises. It has a scalable design that supports penta-band 4×4 with a maximum bandwidth of 36Gbps.
The Filogic 880 platform comes with a 6nm Wi-Fi 7 access point solution that includes:
- Support for key Wi-Fi 7 technologies such as 4096-QAM, 320MHz, MRU and MLO
- Flexibility to scale to penta-band 36Gbps speeds
- Support up to 10Gbps in one channel
- Support for OFDMA RU, MU-MIMO and MBSSID
Additionally, Filogic 880’s new powerful host processor technology features:
- An advanced hardware network full off-load engine on both Wi-Fi and Ethernet interface
- A built-in networking crypto engine (EIP-197) for accelerating IPSec, SSL/TLS, DTLS (CAPWAP), SRTP and MACsec
- Support for high-speed interfaces (5Gbps USB and 10Gbps PCI-Express), UART, SD, SPI, PWM, GPIO, and OTP for rich platform customization opportunities
While the Filogic 380 will provide Wi-Fi 7 connectivity to all client devices such as smartphones, tablets, TV, laptops, etc. The chipset also has a dual concurrent 2×2 capability for those devices.
It is a single-chip 6nm Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 combination solution that is meant to provide a best-in-class connection. This aids in simplifying the design process, optimizing performance, and accelerating time-to-market.
The Filogic 380 has the following key features:
- Support for key Wi-Fi 7 technologies such as 4096-QAM, 320MHz, MRU and MLO
- Support for MLO offering up to 6.5Gbps speeds
- Support up to 5Gbps in one channel
- Support for 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands
- Support for dual 2×2 radios for dual-band simultaneous operation
- Latest Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio

Wi-Fi 7 technology will be the foundation of the home, workplace, and industrial networks. It will provide a seamless connection for everything from multi-player AR/VR apps to cloud gaming and 4K calls to 8K streaming.
MediaTek is also currently demonstrating its Filogic Wi-Fi 7 platform solutions at Computex 2022. This event started last May 24, 2022, in Taipei, Taiwan and will end in May 27.
