One of the most significant changes coming to Twitter is that its new owner, Elon Musk, wants to remove ‘Twitter for Android’ and ‘Twitter for iPhone’ labels from tweets.

Elon Musk wants to remove device labels from tweets!

Currently, if you tweet using an iPhone, the bottom of the tweet will have a ‘Twitter for iPhone’ label, and if the user uses an Android smartphone, the bottom of the tweet will have a ‘Twitter for Android’ label.

This will soon change, though, as Musk plans to democratize all tweets, making it irrelevant whether someone has an iPhone or an Android device.

Users won’t longer be able to criticize others on Twitter if the iPhone and Android labels are removed. There have been numerous incidents in the past where iPhone users have attempted to insult Android users on Twitter. The device label’s removal will mark the end of an era.

Moreover, Musk claims that Twitter would disable bloatware “microservices” because the platform only requires 20% of them to function. Because one of the microservices that sends users two-factor authentication is apparently disabled, this has previously prevented certain users from logging into their accounts.

Musk also said recently that Twitter would soon enable businesses to determine whether other Twitter accounts are really associated with them. This will make fake accounts easier to spot.

After Elon Musk completed the USD 44 billion purchase of the social media site, Twitter had already undergone several changes. Additionally, verified Twitter accounts now have an additional “Official” verified tag under their handles in addition to the new Verified badge subscription available through Twitter Blue for USD 8/month.

There was instant chaos as many people paid USD 8 to impersonate businesses and famous accounts. For instance, Eli Lilly, a manufacturer of insulin, had a more than 4% decline in share price when a verified account impersonated the business and declared that medication was free.

Another user pretended to be LeBron James and tweeted that he was asking for a trade, while still another account pretended to be Nintendo and posted a picture of Mario making an offensive gesture.

Twitter temporarily paused Twitter Blue verification, and
consumers are unable to acquire Twitter Blue subscriptions at this time.
Twitter is exploring another “Official” verification badge, however
it is unclear how the company will address the issue.
