Berlin, GERMANY, September 25, 2023 –Â Xiaomi, in partnership with esteemed Leica Akademie Instructor and renowned photojournalist Giuseppe Nucci, is proud to introduce “Story in Sight,” a groundbreaking series of photography workshops with a profound impact on the world of visual storytelling.Â
The “Story in Sight” project is part of Xiaomi’s broader education endeavor – Xiaomi Education. It stands as a testament to Xiaomi’s commitment to inspire and empower youth worldwide by providing them with the tools and technology to realize their creative potential.Â
The essence of the “Story in Sight” project lies in the unparalleled opportunity it offers to students: the chance to learn directly from the acclaimed photojournalist Giuseppe Nucci. With a storied career that has taken him to the far corners of the globe, Nucci has honed his craft in capturing people, places, and their stories through an anthropological lens. Over the years, his work has been featured in numerous international publications such as National Geographic Magazine, The New York Times, The Guardian, and Wired. In 2018, he also won the Picture of the Year Award, one of the most prestigious photojournalism awards. Since 2017, Giuseppe Nucci has shared his photography expertise with students around the world. In 2022, he achieved the remarkable distinction of being appointed as a Leica Akademie Instructor, underscoring his mastery not only as a photojournalist but also as an educator.Â
“I am humbled by the opportunity to lead the ‘Xiaomi Education – Story in Sight’ workshops,” said Giuseppe Nucci. “Delving into the realm of photographic storytelling alongside university students presents an exciting challenge for me. I genuinely aspire to impart my experiences as a photographer, inspiring the students to become exceptional storytellers in their own right.” The University of Barcelona stands as the first institution to participate in the “Story in Sight” project. Established in 1450, this is among Europe’s oldest and most esteemed institutions, renowned for its exceptional academic standards, significant research contributions, and dedication to social responsibility. The workshops are scheduled to take place in November this year, nestled within the University of Barcelona’s winter semester. These transformative workshops will be open to students from the Faculty of Philology and Visual Communication, the Faculty of Fine Arts, and the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media.Â
Dr Javier Orduña, Coordinator for Chinese Universities at the Vice-Rectorate for International Policy and Professor at the Philology and Communication Faculty at the University of Barcelona, expresses the university’s expectations: “We are thrilled to host the ‘Story in Sight’ workshops at the University of Barcelona. This collaboration with Xiaomi and photojournalist Giuseppe Nucci provides an incredible opportunity for our students to hone their storytelling skills through photography. We are confident that engaging with a seasoned professional like Giuseppe and gaining further real-life insights and different practical experiences will provide our students with useful contrast elements within their university education.”Â
Through a collaborative effort, the Xiaomi Education – “Story in Sight” project draws on the knowledge and experience of photojournalist Giuseppe Nucci to empower and inspire the next generation of storytellers.Â
