Steady Huawei CBG business growth cements its position in the high-end market
Huawei CBG has achieved significant progress over the last year. It was able to make breakthroughs in the global high-end wearable, audio, tablet, PC, and phone markets by offering an appealing lineup of high-end, fashion-forward, and technologically advanced products.
Huawei has hosted major product launch events in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Latin America, and Asia Pacific, showcasing the company’s dedication to expanding its worldwide profile as a premium brand.
Flagship smartphones released in 2023 included the HUAWEI Mate 60 Series and the HUAWEI Mate X5, both of which helped Huawei become a major player in the high-end market and demonstrated Huawei’s industry-leading technical strength to the world. Huawei also announced ULTIMATE DESIGN, a new ultra-high-end brand with distinctive aesthetics, workmanship, and technological advances to set it apart from the competition.
According to Counterpoint Research’s latest report, Huawei gained 5% of the market share in the global high-end smartphone market in 2023, ranking third among all brands. In the first two weeks of 2024, Huawei ranked first in the Chinese market with the largest smartphone sales volume. By the end of 2023, global shipments of Huawei smart wearables exceeded 150 million, and Huawei has ranked first in China’s smartwatch market for five consecutive years. The HUAWEI Health App has a user base of over 450 million. By 2023, a decade after the launch of its first tablet, Huawei had shipped over 100 million tablets.
Creating a new aesthetic paradigm with high-end designs
Huawei’s “Fashion Forward” scenario-based demonstration zone at MWC received critical acclaim and demonstrated Huawei’s concentration on developing a high-end fashion-forward brand. Huawei launched its “Fashion Forward” campaign in 2023 to encourage customers to adopt stylish and healthy lifestyles. While investing substantially in R&D, Huawei is dedicated to inventing new design paradigms for each new product while establishing industry fashion trends.
Huawei is dedicated to providing consumers with high-end, fashion-forward, and technology-driven goods and experiences that incorporate premium materials, a distinct design language, and innovative manufacturing techniques. During the development of the Huawei Mate 60 RS ULTIMATE DESIGN, R&D personnel used rare earth elements to the red ceramics sintering process for the first time. During the 60-day production process, each phone is calcined at 1400°C and goes through more than 50 procedures, all of which are critical to creating the brilliant red body.Â
The HUAWEI WATCH ULTIMATE DESIGN is Huawei’s first-ever gold smartwatch. It’s made of 18K gold and zirconium-based liquid metal. HUAWEI FreeClip is Huawei’s first earbuds featuring a C-bridge design. This design is both sturdy and stable, providing a breathable wearing experience while also giving the earphones a delightfully unique appearance and feel. The HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 is shaped like an octagon, highlighting every fine feature on the surface.
Up to now, Huawei has established Aesthetics Research Centres in Paris, Milan, and London to acquire insight into different cultures’ design and aesthetic trends, draw from a varied variety of traditions, and incorporate design ideas from both East and West. The Aesthetics Research Centers are global platforms that drive the ongoing evolution of technologies and design, offering consumers with a one-of-a-kind and unprecedented aesthetic experience.
Cutting-edge smart wearables provide comprehensive and precise health management
Huawei’s fitness and health scenario-based exhibition zone also drew the attention of the guests. Smart wearables is one of the most important industries in Huawei CBG’s global business. Huawei released a line of flagship smart wearables in 2023, including the HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate, the first daily smart watch to support two-way BeiDou satellite messaging, the HUAWEI WATCH 4, which introduced the all-new Health Glance feature, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4, which included brand-new Activity Rings and the Stay Fit App, and the HUAWEI WATCH ULTIMATE DESIGN, the first gold-plated smart watch ever produced.

Three months after its launch, global shipments of the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 exceeded 2.5 million pieces, making it Huawei’s best-selling smartwatch.
Huawei has spent over a decade developing its own vital sign monitoring technology, TruSeenâ„¢, which has been improved five generations in the past eight years. This technology puts Huawei as a prominent contender in the smart wearables market. Huawei has submitted over 800 smart wearable patent applications, making it a leader in terms of R&D investment and patents in the fitness and health industry. Huawei Finland Health Lab, the company’s third, will be launched in October of 2023.
The company has also established over ten global R&D centers, accelerating the global spread of professional research in the wearables industry. Huawei will continue to set the standard for developing revolutionary fitness and health services and making scientific smart solutions accessible to everybody.
Huawei smart wearables will get additional information into consumers’ main health pain points, increase R&D investment, and continue to develop innovations that benefit global consumers. In 2024, Huawei will focus on three industrial challenges: sleep, blood pressure, and mental health management. Huawei’s efforts will result in more accurate, convenient, and complete health management solutions for worldwide consumers.
Digital creation that witnesses the Creation of Beauty
HUAWEI MatePad Pro 13.2″, Huawei’s latest flagship tablet, and a myriad of works created by global creators using the tablet, drew intense interest at MWC 2024. The tablet was launched in 2023 as the first tablet to support NearLink technology, marking the tenth year of Huawei tablets. It is also the thinnest tablet ever made, with the narrowest bezels and the highest screen-to-body ratio.
It works perfectly with the HUAWEI M-Pencil (3rd generation), the first pen to handle 10,000+ pressure sensing levels, providing an unprecedented digital creating experience. Huawei’s global GoPaint Activity in 2023 welcomed digital creators to present their creations created on Huawei tablets. Huawei’s goal in developing cutting-edge tablet capabilities is to make the joy of creation more accessible to all, allowing everyone to express themselves better.
At the event, Huawei noted that it will continue to increase its investment in digital creation in 2024 by prioritizing PaperMatte Display and NearLink technology, to provide consumers with more enhanced digital creation experiences. The GoPaint Activity hosted by Huawei will also witness an upgrade to cover more countries and regions, making it a genuine global force in the digital art community.
Huawei’s advances in mobile photography are no less impressive, with the introduction of the XMAGE brand, which covers everything from optical systems to imaging technology and image processing. In 2023, Huawei’s top products, including the HUAWEI Mate 60 Series, HUAWEI Mate X5, and HUAWEI P60 Series, will include XMAGE features, providing customers with a completely new mobile photographic experience.
The HUAWEI XMAGE Awards in 2023 received over 600,000 submissions from approximately 100 countries/regions. Its goal is to inspire users to capture and share the beauty in their surroundings, express their emotions, and demonstrate the power of smartphone photography.
Huawei’s showcase at MWC 2024 demonstrated the company’s commitment to the global high-end market. 2024 will be a critical year, as Huawei will break through boundaries and make high-end, fashion-forward, and technology-driven products, services, and experiences more accessible to users worldwide, with increased R&D investment in innovative technologies, thus setting a benchmark for the industry.
