vivo has released a new budget phone in the Philippines that seems made for the country’s unpredictable weather. The vivo Y21d is now available nationwide starting at Php 6,999.
With the number of storms this year, including Typhoon Matmo (Paolo) that recently brought floods to northern Luzon, a water-resistant phone actually makes sense. The Y21d comes with IP68, IP69, and IP69+ ratings, which means it can handle splashes, dust, and even short dips underwater.
One of its practical features is Wet Hand Touch, so users can still swipe or take photos even with wet fingers. There’s also a One-Tap Water Ejection option that helps clear moisture from the speakers, so there’s no need to shake your phone or put it in rice.

The Y21d is also built tough. It passed MIL-STD 810H durability tests and survived 42,000 small drops during lab testing. It uses Guardian Glass for the display and a reinforced frame to help protect it from scratches and cracks.
Battery life should last long with its 6,500mAh capacity and 44W FlashCharge support. vivo says it can retain around 80 percent of its health even after years of use.
