Nothing has just added a new device to their audio lineup, the new Nothing Ear (3a). Their newest wireless earbuds bring several upgrades over its predecessor while keeping the same price point.
Audio Snapshot and Call Recording
The biggest additions to the Nothing Ear (3a) are Audio Snapshot and Call Recording, two new features that can both be utilized using the Nothing X app.
The Audio Snapshot lets users save up to a minute of the audio that they’re currently listening to with a simple pinch gesture on either earbud. This feature uses 32MB of onboard storage before syncing recordings to the Nothing X app, where they can be replayed, shared, edited, or transcribed.
The earbuds also support call recording for conversations and online meetings, with recordings lasting up to two hours. Nothing says that an audible alert is played whenever recording begins, so everyone on the call will be notified.
Users also receive three months of Pro Transcription, which includes up to 120 minutes of transcription each month. This includes AI-generated summaries, speaker identification, and even searchable transcripts.

Improved Sound and Noise Cancellation
The Nothing Ear (3a) is equipped with 12mm dynamic drivers that are larger than those found on the previous Ear (a). According to Nothing, this allows the earbuds to produce deeper bass while maintaining clearer vocals and instrument separation.
The earbuds also support Hi-Res Audio Wireless with LDAC, an 8-band equalizer, and Static Spatial Audio for a more immersive listening experience when watching movies or gaming.
Active Noise Cancellation has also been upgraded and now supports up to 45dB of noise reduction across a wider frequency range. At the same time, Transparency Mode is now available for users who want to stay aware of their surroundings while still listening to something through their earbuds.
For calls, the Ear (3a) uses a six-microphone system with Clear Voice Technology to reduce background noise and improve voice clarity.
New Design, Battery, and Connectivity
For its design, Nothing has introduced a new “Party Pill” design inspired by shrink-wrapped materials and pill blister packs. The charging case now features a three-LED indicator for battery and pairing status.
Each earbud houses a 55mAh battery, while the charging case includes a 500mAh battery with up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge with ANC turned off. This is extendable to as much as 42 hours with the charging case. With ANC enabled, total playback is rated at up to 25 hours. To note, a five-minute charge provides up to one hour of listening time.
The Ear (3a) also supports Bluetooth 6.0, dual-device pairing, Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, and carries an IP54 dust and splash resistance rating.
Nothing Ear (3a) Pricing and Availability
