HONOR the former sub-brand of Huawei recently launched its new V40 5G or internationally version called View 40. Also, the new V40 5G is the first HONOR phone to have pre-installed Google Mobile Services. And after the launch of their new device, they announced that they signed partnerships with chip manufacturers like MediaTek and AMD.

To look back on, aside from Huawei, the China-US trade issues also affect HONOR, which resulted in Google Services banned from their devices. However, in the last quarter of 2020, Huawei sold the HONOR brand and became free on the US ban. And that brought them new opportunities and a chance to be independent.

Besides AMD and MediaTek, they also signed partnerships with Qualcomm, Intel, Micron Technology, Microsoft, Samsung, SK Hynix, and Sony.

“The last five months have been an extremely difficult but meaningful time for Honor,” Chief Executive George Zhao said. He also said that they feel the weight of expectation from their industry partners and consumers.

When they were still under Huawei, they only focused on the budget category of the smartphone. But they will aim to enter the middle and higher-end category and expand overseas. The company also plans to pursue the ‘internet of things’ market strategy that Huawei also used.

So, we may expect a lot from HONOR because of the collaboration with big tech companies.
