NVIDIA has revealed its new GPU lineup that is specially designed for cryptocurrency mining workloads and farms. They officially announced the Cryptocurrency Mining Processor (CMP) series that is under the HX branding.

The CMP is the latest product of NVIDIA that is specifically intended for Ethereum mining. We can expect that the authorized partners including MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, EVGA, Palit, and more will sell the CMP cards. It will have different variants you may choose for different specifications.

However, the CMP cards would not contain display output, sadly these are not for gaming or casual usage. Cryptocurrency Mining Processor (CMP) series is also power efficient because it has a lower peak core voltage and frequency.

Besides, the Cryptocurrency Mining Processor series has four models: 30HX, 40HX, 50HX, 90HX. See the specifications of the four models and their starting availability below.

NVIDIA also announced that the RTX 3060 launch driver will have software limitations for cryptocurrency mining workloads. It simply means it will reduce the hash rate or the mining efficiency of the upcoming RTX 3060 by 50%.

As reported by Mr. Rizzo, “There is a secure handshake between the driver, the RTX 3060 silicon, and the BIOS (firmware) that prevents removal of the hash rate limiter”. It simply means that you won’t be able to use an older version of the driver to restore the originally intended hash rate.
