HONOR Philippines has firmly made its mark in the mid-range smartphone space, thanks to the massive success of the HONOR X9 series. What started with the HONOR X9a 5G in 2023 has grown into one of the brand’s most recognizable and best-selling lineups, turning its yearly releases into something fans now expect.
According to HONOR Philippines Vice President Stephen Cheng, the success of the X9 series wasn’t something the brand took for granted.
“When we launched HONOR X9a 5G, we honestly had zero expectations. We only had confidence in what we could do. When it exceeded expectations, we thought it was beginner’s luck. But then HONOR X9b 5G became another hit, and HONOR X9c 5G outperformed everything we achieved in 2023 and 2024,” Cheng shared.

Over the years, the HONOR X9 series has become known for one thing above all: durability. From early 5-foot drop tests to extreme 50-foot challenges, HONOR consistently pushed the limits. This year, the HONOR X9c 5G took things even further with an extreme helicopter drop test, proving just how tough the device really is.
Pushing durability to a whole new level, HONOR Philippines made headlines when 264 participants dropped their HONOR X9c 5G units at the same time.
The stunt earned the brand a Guinness World Records title for “The Most People Performing a Mobile Phone Drop Test Simultaneously,” cementing HONOR’s reputation for credible and bold product demonstrations.
With three successful generations behind it, the pressure is now on.
“One can only think about how to top the past releases,” Cheng added. “It’s challenging, but it’s a good challenge. We’re excited for everyone to see what we’ve been working on.”
