China Mobile will collaborate on 5G-enabled PCs for the next generation of connected modern PC experiences with HP, Intel, and MediaTek.
The digital economy has aided economic growth in several regions since last year. Potential applications such as online education, remote jobs, and digital entertainment such as streaming boomed because of the COVID-19 lockdowns.
5G connected PC product innovations
The quickly expanding 5G industry in China is aiding in the acceleration of this transition. Ministry of Industry and Information Technology reported that China currently has 280 million 5G smartphone subscribers. That means they hold more than 80% of the global 5G industry.
As the 5G industry matures, China Mobile will extend its collaboration with partners outside mobile phones. They will create more form factors of 5G devices and assist in 5G enabling more regions. Besides, the company will also help to accelerate the development of the digital economy.
China Mobile, HP, Intel, and MediaTek are the four partners of the 5G connected PC go-to-market strategy. In addition, they collaborate to provide end-users 5G network packages and premium broadband networks.
HP will concentrate on advanced 5G PC device design which brings 5G connectivity to its PC product portfolio. Expect that HP will soon release the premium 5G Connected laptop PCs and value-added services. By that, they will offer improved user experiences for online education, remote jobs, video streaming, video broadcasting, etc.
While Intel will contribute experience in PC platform engineering and performance to provide new computing technologies for China Mobile’s 5G PC applications. Also, MediaTek will provide 5G modem technology as well as applications such as SA and NR CA solutions for upcoming 5G-connected PCs.
This “four-party collaboration” would accelerate the promotion of 5G connected PC product innovation, extend 5G connected PC use scenarios, and begin to enrich 5G implementations to provide users with premium products and user experiences.
