Two new chipsets from MediaTek, which are the Pentonic 800 SoC for 4K premium smart TVs and displays and the Kompanio 838 SoC for premium Chromebooks, will be unveiled at this year’s exhibition. Both chipsets provide strong performance and support for the newest AI advancements across several verticals.
Furthermore, Dr. Rick Tsai, the CEO and Vice Chairman of MediaTek, explored in his keynote address at COMPUTEX 2024 how AI will continue to change the settings of industry, mobility, smart homes, and transportation. MediaTek Kompanio 838: Amplifying productive working, learning, and creativity
For thin and light Chromebooks, the octa-core Kompanio 838 wraps exceptional performance and multitasking capabilities into a very efficient SoC that allows for all-day battery life. This new chipset doubles memory bandwidth over previous generations to deliver much higher data throughput and supports DDR4 and LPDDR4X to fulfill a wider range of OEM needs.
Kompanio 838 enables a specialized AI processor, the MediaTek NPU 650, to deliver more interactive and higher-quality entertainment with unmatched power efficiency in order to support the most recent advancements in AI. MediaTek APUs can swiftly complete complicated computations and are optimized for processing picture data efficiently and with high quality.
The integrated next-generation MediaTek Imagiq 7 series ISP enhances low-light capture, dual camera compatibility, and professional-class HDR photography, enhancing photo and video quality even in difficult lighting situations. The Kompanio 838 improves image quality and allows users to stream 4K material with ease thanks to hardware-accelerated AV1 video decoding. In addition, the Kompanio 838 supports MediaTek Filogic Wi-Fi 6 and 6E technologies, which enable Chromebooks to connect in dual or tri bands at up to 1.9 Gbps. The 2×2 antenna provides more dependable connectivity, and WPA3 compatibility enhances security.

MediaTek Pentonic 800: Powerful AI Engine with Industry-leading Image Enhancement
Experience top-notch audio, visual, and cloud gaming with the MediaTek Pentonic 800. Smart TVs, smart monitors, commercial displays, and integrated huge displays are just a few of the 4K displays that the SoC is perfect for. MediaTek’s AI processor delivers 50% quicker AI processing speed and up to 60% less bandwidth utilization than the previous generation chip.
