DaVinci Resolve for iPad is now available on the App Store, allowing iPad users with access to a popular professional-grade video editing app right on their iPad.Â
DaVinci Resolve for iPad
To recall, DaVinci Resolve for iPad was introduced in October 2022 and is intended to be optimized for iPads with Apple silicon processors, including the new iPad Pro with the M2 chip and the iPad Pro and iPad Air from the previous generation, both powered by the M1 chip.Â
Blackmagic, the creators of DaVinci Resolve, claims that the software will provide 4x faster Ultra HD ProRes rendering on the new M2 iPad Pro, with additional comparable enhancements coming to M1-based iPads.1Â
The Resolve app has been optimized for the iPad’s touch interface, but you may still utilize an external keyboard and mouse for a more familiar experience. Users will access all of the desktop app’s capabilities, such as color correction, editing, cloud collaboration, AI-based magic masks, and voice isolation.Â
DaVinci Resolve for iPad Features:Â
- The cut page for editing and the color pages are optimized for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro display.
- Supports multi-user collaboration via Blackmagic Cloud.
- Supports AI processing powered by Apple Neural Engine DaVinci Resolve Studio for iPad.
- Compatible with DaVinci Resolve 18 project files.
- Supports H.264, H.265, ProRes, and Blackmagic RAW media files.
- Supports clips from iPad storage, Photos library, and iCloud.
- Works with Apple Pencil, Magic Trackpad, Magic Keyboard, and Smart Keyboard Folio.
- External monitoring via Apple Studio Display, Pro Display XDR, or an AirPlay display.
- Supports HDR display on 12.9-inch iPad Pro with the M1 chip.Â
The creators said that it is compatible with any iPad model that runs iPadOS 16, however, they strongly advise using it with at least an M1 chip or better. Â
Older iPads may not have access to all of Resolve’s functionality, and some models may be limited to HD projects. For the greatest experience, Blackmagic suggests using an iPad Pro M1 or M2 model. The M1 and M2 iPads are the only ones that can connect to an external monitor or edit ProRes footage.Â
Users may also import current DaVinci Resolve 18 projects onto the iPad app. DaVinci Resolve Studio, which adds various premium capabilities to the regular program, is available as a one-time USD 94.99 (around PHP 5.2K) in-app purchase.Â
