Valve’s timely release of the New Frontiers update for Dota 2 came as a pleasant surprise, particularly since it is one of the game’s most significant updates.
The expansion of the game’s map by 40% is a noteworthy change that alters many of the familiar features of the MOBA. Additionally, this update includes other significant modifications that are likely to bring about paradigm shifts in the game’s competitive meta.
There are numerous new features in the New Frontiers update for Dota 2. The map expansion, which is the most prominent update, includes new elements such as two Roshan pits, Twin Gates for quick teleportation, Lotus Pools that offer healing fruit, and Watchers that function as permanent observer wards. Moreover, there are several other changes, including a new hero attribute type called Universal, a reworked Black King Bar item, neutral item redemption tokens, and neutral creeps getting stronger over time. In addition, the update includes a universal reduction in stun durations and hero changes that will take a considerable amount of time to read and comprehend. Two new runes have also been introduced: Wisdom Runes that provide experience, and Shield Runes that offer a protective shield. It’s worth noting that the update was released in the middle of DreamLeague S19 tournament, and the Dota Pro Circuit’s ESL One Berlin Major is set to begin on April 26.
