According to reports, Elon Musk Invests in Twitter developing a competitor to ChatGPT.
According to Business Insider, despite Elon Musk’s call for a pause in AI training across the industry, he has initiated a significant AI project in Twitter. This project involves a Large Language Model (LLM) and the company has already procured around 10,000 GPUs and hired AI professionals from DeepMind.
A source familiar with the matter has disclosed that Elon Musk’s AI project is currently in its early stages. However, another individual has suggested that the acquisition of a substantial amount of computational power indicates Musk’s commitment to the project’s progress. Meanwhile, the precise objective of the generative AI remains unclear, although it could be utilized to enhance search functionality or generate tailored advertising content.
Although the precise type of hardware obtained by Twitter is currently unknown, reports suggest that the company has spent tens of millions of dollars on the purchase of these compute GPUs, despite facing ongoing financial difficulties described by Musk as an “unstable financial situation.” It is anticipated that these GPUs will be utilized in one of Twitter’s two remaining data centers, with Atlanta being the most probable location. Notably, Musk shut down Twitter’s primary data center in Sacramento in late December, resulting in a reduction in the company’s computing capabilities.
