Globe recently announced that they’re going to set up a new antenna here in the Philippines for Globe customers to experience better 5G network performance.
The Philippines will be the first country to implement the next generation META AAU, according to the local global telecommunications company, Globe.
The Globe states that this new AAU (Active Antenna Unit) consists of innovative software and hardware.
Globe, as one of the META AAU’s early adopters, can simply increase its 5G network coverage and capacity while using less energy. It will provide a better customer experience while protecting the environment.
This ELAA (Extremely Large Antenna) is twice as large as a typical unit that will enhance the coverage and integration. ELAA combines an ultra-light integrated array and signal direction injection feeding.
There are telcos like Globe that are committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, making them into green products and solutions.
The software, on the other hand, makes use of an Adaptive High-Resolution Turbo algorithm to offer precise, dynamic, and targeted beamforming, hence enhancing the users’ experience and cell capacity.
The META AAU is a potent energy-saving technology that will enable base stations to provide cell-edge users with the same degree of coverage while using the less transmitting power than other standard AAUs. Additionally, this device consumes about 30% less energy.
The Globe recorded almost two million devices on its 5G network from January to June of this year. In that case, many customers are already using 5G.
Globe has set aside P89 billion in capital expenditures for the year 2022. That will expand the availability of 5G sites and in-building solutions; upgrade cell towers to 4G LTE; add more 4G cell sites; and install more fiber-to-the-home lines.
“We are excited over this META AAU, especially now that we are aggressively rolling out 5G across the country. This will allow us to provide a more enjoyable experience to our customers using environment-friendly solutions and reduce energy costs. This is a win-win proposition for our customers, the business, and the planet,” said Joel Agustin, Globe SVP and Head of Network Planning and Engineering, Network Technical Group.
