Together with Globe Telecom, Vertiv, a leading global supplier of essential digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, officially opened its new, 5G-ready data center in Tiaong, Quezon Province.
Globe Telecom and Vertiv 5G-ready data center
In order to meet the increasing expectations of its clientele for quicker connection and data applications, Globe Telecom is building a consistent communications network, which is supported by the TIA 942, Tier-II modular data center.
With more mobile and fixed network services available and more reliable, Globe’s newest data center location in Tiaong enhances digital connection and enhances customer satisfaction.
Globe was eager to maximize construction time while maintaining a high standard of energy efficiency. Vertiv’s complete array of power, thermal, and IT management solutions, along with the assistance of its own prefabricated data center infrastructure experience, ultimately proved to be the solution to this difficulty.
Vertiv’s integrated modular technologies are combined with a traditional brick-and-mortar building method in the Tiaong data center.
The project was built in a manner known as “parallel construction,” which significantly shortened build timetables by coordinating on-site construction with offsite module manufacture. This approach made it possible to create a small, fully functional space that meets present needs and leaves room for future development should demand grow.
“As we continue to expand our network and realize increased traffic, we need additional data centers in strategic areas to meet this demand. We found the right partner in Vertiv, whose expertise and energy efficiency ensured our data centers are among the best in its class,” said James Lim, Globe Telecom’s vice president for Core Planning, Engineering & Implementation.
“We are excited to witness this unique project unveiled in the Philippines, where a traditional build approach remains as the prevalent methodology. Vertiv’s integrated modular solutions take into consideration specific customer requirements, and our collaborative approach with Globe allowed for a more energy-efficient, environmentally-sound design compared to traditional build, while supporting consistent network connectivity to Filipinos across the country,” said Jason Lim.
James Lim, vice president for the Network Technical Group, Jaime Pagcaliwagan, director of core facility engineering, Patrick John Magsajo, assistant director for core project delivery, and Rey Salvador, director of core operations, were all present at the Globe Telecom ribbon-cutting ceremony. Albert Corpuz, the project manager, Jason Lim, the national manager for the Philippines, and Anna Dionne Chua, the telecom sales manager, all represented Vertiv.
