One of the most anticipated midrange smartphones has officially hit the market! Today, HONOR Philippines unveiled the all-new HONOR 400 5G, priced at just PHP 22,990.
Packed with a 200MP AI camera, generous storage, a massive battery, and a sleek yet durable design, this phone promises plenty of bang for your buck. After weeks of real-world use, it’s time to break it all down for you.
Camera
One of the biggest selling points of the HONOR 400 5G is its camera system, complete with AI-powered editing tools. When it comes to photo quality, it will not disappoint you. The photos I captured are sharp, vibrant, and full of detail, with a good balance overall. Like other HONOR phones, its image processing leans on the contrasty side, which works well in many situations.
The HONOR 400 5G features a 200MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 12MP ultra-wide and macro lens, and a 50MP portrait selfie camera.
It would have been even better with a dedicated telephoto lens for sharper zoom shots, but the 200MP main sensor still gets the job done when zooming in. However, the 12MP ultra-wide lens produces a decent quality but sometimes looks like paint, especially in low-light conditions.
Moreover, I love the portrait mode’s bokeh effect. It includes a Harcourt-inspired touch, similar to what we’ve seen in the HONOR 200. The subject-to-background separation is clean, with a smooth and precise cutout. Even the selfie camera delivers solid image quality with accurate skin tones.
What’s even more impressive is that it comes with built-in AI editing tools that help you turn good photos into great ones. One of its standout features is the AI Image-to-Video tool, which can bring your photos to life by turning them into short videos. We gave it a try, and honestly, it was pretty cool. We’re planning to create separate content just to dive deeper into all these AI features.
As for video, it’s no slouch. The phone supports up to 4K at 30fps, and thanks to the built-in OIS, stabilization is surprisingly good. You’ll get steady, shake-free clips that are more than usable for vlogs or casual content creation.
Here are some sample photos taken with the HONOR 400 5G:
Display and Multimedia Experience
Aside from its design, I also loved its high-quality display. The HONOR 400 5G features a 6.55-inch screen, a bit smaller than most phones nowadays that has a 6.7 to 6.8-inch display. It’s not tiny by any means, but thanks to its slim body, it feels more compact and easy to handle.
It features an AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution, which makes binge-watching videos and scrolling social media enjoyable because the display is sharp, vibrant, and punchy.
On top of that, it features a 120Hz refresh rate, which makes everything feel smooth and responsive, whether you’re scrolling, swiping, or playing games. No lags or stutters, just a fluid experience all around.
Outdoor visibility? Not a problem. With a screen brightness that reaches up to 5,000 nits, I had no trouble seeing the display clearly, even under direct sunlight.
The phone also has dual stereo speakers that deliver clear and rich sound, making music, videos, and movies more enjoyable.
Performance and Software
When it comes to performance, the HONOR 400 5G runs on the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset with the Adreno 720 GPU. This chipset can easily hold its own whether you’re browsing or playing games.
Multitasking is smooth sailing thanks to 12GB of RAM, along with 12GB of HONOR RAM Turbo. You also get a generous 512GB of internal storage, which gives you more than enough space for your photos, apps, and even your offline Netflix library.
For young professionals, this phone fits like a glove. It’s not just about performance, it also brings smart features to the table. The HONOR 400 5G is equipped with AI tools like Magic Portal, HONOR Notes, Circle to Search, and AI writing features to give your daily productivity an extra boost.
All of this is powered by the optimized and lightweight MagicOS 9.0 based on Android 15. The overall experience, from unlocking the phone to launching apps, feels quick, clean, and responsive.
I tried to play Genshin Impact, which is known for pushing phones to their limits. The HONOR 400 5G handled it like a champ. It did warm up a bit after a few minutes of intense gameplay, likely due to its slim frame, but overall, it still gets a thumbs-up for gaming.
For those who want benchmark results, the HONOR 400 5G got an 823,356 score in AnTuTu Benchmark while a 13,649 score on PCMark Work 3.0. These results are nothing to sneeze at, especially for a phone in this price range. You’re getting solid performance that punches above its weight.
Battery Life
The HONOR 400 5G also shines when it comes to battery life. With a massive 6,000mAh battery, you are assured that it will give you a lot of juice.
In my day-to-day use, it easily lasted a full day on a single charge. I even ran the PCMark battery benchmark with a SIM card installed, and it scored 12 hours and 42 minutes, a solid hint that this phone can keep up with heavy users.
What’s even more impressive is how HONOR managed to squeeze such a big battery into a compact chassis. Thanks to its Silicon-Carbon battery which helps keep the phone slim and light in the hand.
While the box includes a 100W power adapter, the phone only supports up to 80W charging. Even so, it still charges impressively fast. In my testing, it went from 0-100% in under an hour, which is quite fast considering the size of the battery.
Verdict
The HONOR 400 5G delivers great value with its powerful AI features, solid performance, and impressive cameras. I actually expected it to be priced higher, especially with its upgraded tools for productivity and photo editing that you’d usually only find in paid apps.
Its 200MP main camera, 50MP selfie shooter, and long-lasting battery make it a dependable daily driver. If you’re coming from an older phone, this is a smart upgrade. But if you already own the HONOR 200, the improvements aren’t huge, so it might be worth waiting for the next model.
