Great entry-level smartphones are coming out this year with their own strengths, and this HONOR X7b also boasts features that you might like.
Recently, I unboxed and shared my first impressions of this phone and I have been using it for a few days now. Actually, my experience with this phone and the HONOR X8b is not too different.
But what you can get here is just right for its price, so join me in this article if it is worth buying.
Camera
Let’s talk about the camera of HONOR X7b first. This HONOR X7b is also proud of its rear camera setup because it is the same as the HONOR X8b that we just reviewed, apart from the 2MP depth sensor because it has a 2MP macro lens. The important thing is that it has a 108MP main camera and also has a 5MP ultra-wide lens.
The image quality of this phone’s camera is decent, it’s not very vivid, but the pictures I got are usable. The details and texture are also good since it has 108MP. Although, its selfie camera is only 8MP, so don’t expect too much.
As for the video, I’m still a little not satisfied because it doesn’t have stabilization. But if you really don’t want shaky videos, just put the phone on a tripod or stand. Besides, you can use Google Photos to stabilize your videos.
By the way, the camera modes available here are Aperture mode, Night mode, Portrait mode, Photo and Video, Pro, Slow-Mo, Panorama, HDR Photo, Time-Lapse, Watermarks, Super Micro, Dual-View, High-Res, Scan Document, and Story, same as in X8b.

Display and Multimedia Experience
If you want a large display for watching your favorite K-drama series, this HONOR X7b is also a good option because it has a large 6.80-inch HONOR FullView display. It’s just an IPS LCD panel and unfortunately, it’s not AMOLED, but it still offers 16.7 million colors, so its display is still vibrant.
Its 90Hz screen refresh rate is also very stable and this high refresh rate is just right for me.
It’s just that I had a little trouble viewing its display when I was outdoors to take pictures because its max brightness is only up to 850nits. So maybe it’s just good for indoors.
Since this HONOR X7b also has dual stereo speakers, it is also very immersive when you are watching or playing games. It can offer up to 200% max volume by the way which I can say is also strong. The sound quality is not that good and it lacks bass for me.
By the way, the port that it has and the HONOR X8b does not have is the 3.5mm headphone jack that most of us also like.
Performance
Like the HONOR X8b, the performance you can get here is also good since it also has a 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 octa-core chipset with 8GB RAM and 8GB HONOR RAM Turbo. Although I wish HONOR would put a switch on the HONOR RAM Turbo so we can turn it off when we desire to.
For software, it runs the latest MagicOS 7.2 based on Android 13. I didn’t see any bugs or instability because my experience was smooth. It’s also good for daily tasks because you won’t have any problems with other apps that we often use like social media and entertainment apps.
In gaming, it is also stable in Mobile Legends, Call of Duty Mobile, and Farlight 84. Genshin Impact is also playable at the low to lowest setting if you want to play that game.
It supports up to ultra settings graphics and Super High Frame Rate in Mobile Legends, while very high graphics quality and high frame rate in Call of Duty Mobile. In Farlight 84, it supports HDR graphics, extreme framerate, and high resolution, but I can’t advise you to max settings because you will experience frame drops.
It actually got a score of 309K in the AnTuTu Benchmark, while it scored 7314 in the PCMark benchmark. The scores it got are just right for its price, especially since it’s only under PHP 9K.
Battery
When it comes to the battery, it comes with a very massive 6,000mAh battery capacity that is claimed to have up to 3-day battery life. Well, it still depends on your usage but for me, it lasts about 2 days since we do a lot of things during our testing, we also play games and constantly browse social media.
The HONOR X7b got a score of 15 hours and 11 minutes in the PCMark battery benchmark which is considered really long. It turns out that it lasts almost 3 hours more on the HONOR X8b, which is just right because it also only has a 1,500mAh battery capacity.
Additionally, it only takes a little time to fully charge because it only supports 35W HONOR SuperCharge. The 6,000mAh battery capacity is really massive that’s why.
Verdict
For the price of P8,999, for me, it’s worth it especially if you’re really looking for a long-lasting battery, decent camera, decent performance, big screen, dual speakers, and good design. But don’t expect too much from this phone because the HONOR X7b is just an entry-level phone. I also suggest that you wait for a sale or use a voucher to save a lot. I can recommend it to students there, to parents or grandparents, as well as to consumers whose budget is under 10K.
