Lenovo partners with One Meralco Foundation
Lenovo Philippines is pleased to announce its most recent collaboration with the One Meralco Foundation (OMF). The contract signing event, which took place on September 20, marked the start of yet another important relationship.
Lenovo has agreed to give laptops to OMF’s School Electrification Program as part of this collaborative effort. The program seeks to deliver power to 10 schools across the Philippines by 2023, with three schools in Sarangani and three in Sultan Kudarat already benefiting from electrification. Two schools in South Cotabato and two more in Southern Palawan are also being electrified.
“Our company has always been driven to provide smarter technology for all,” said Michael Ngan, President and General Manager of Lenovo Philippines. “However, we understand that without power, the capacity of technology remains underutilized. By providing laptops to transformed schools, we light the way for students and educators to access a world of knowledge.”
This is not Lenovo Philippines’ first engagement with the One Meralco Foundation. Motivated by the aim of the School Electrification Program, the collaboration began last year when the former reached out to the latter.
The program, according to Ngan, aligned with their worldwide purpose of providing underserved people with access to technology and STEM education. As a result, the leading global PC manufacturer provided more laptops to teachers in Iloilo.
One Meralco Foundation President Jeff Tarayao expressed thanks for Lenovo’s contribution, adding, “Being able to reach the most remote island schools in the country gives our work at One Meralco Foundation an even deeper meaning.” We are pleased that our partners, such as Lenovo, are joining us in these efforts and contributing to significant change that benefits communities,” said OMF President and Meralco Chief Corporate Social Responsibility Officer Jeffrey O. Tarayao. This strengthens the world’s leading PC manufacturer’s position as a trustworthy partner in implementing solution-led transformations in the education sector.
According to Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho, enabling the productivity of our teachers and students and their immediate communities by giving electricity access to numerous underprivileged places in the country is an important aspect of Meralco’s campaign. “Through our electrification initiatives, Meralco and OMF hope to continue changing more lives for the better and contributing to the sustainable and inclusive development of communities beyond our franchise area,” Aperocho said.
