To recall, MediaTek recently held its annual MediaTek Executive Summit 2021 and unveiled new products including the new flagship Dimensity 9000. In that event, MediaTek and AMD also announced a partnership to co-engineer industry-leading Wi-Fi solutions such as AMD RZ600 Series Wi-Fi 6E modules.
AMD RZ600 Series Wi-Fi 6E module
This new AMD RZ600 Series Wi-Fi 6E module carries MediaTek’s new Filogic 300P chipset. AMD and MediaTek work together to optimize this technology to deliver seamless connectivity experiences for consumers. They created and verified PCIe and USB interfaces for contemporary sleep states and power management.
Filogic 330P supports 2×2 Wi-Fi 6 (2.4/5GHz) and 6E (6GHz band up to 7.125GHz) connectivity standards, as well as Bluetooth® 5.2 (BT/BLE). It also supports up to 2.4Gbps connectivity and the new 6GHz spectrum at 160MHz channel bandwidth. The chipset also features MediaTek’s power amplifier (PA) and low noise amplifier (LNA) technologies to improve power consumption optimization. With that, it also minimizes the design footprint, allowing it to fit in laptops of different sizes.
The AMD RZ600 Series Wi-Fi 6E modules enhance AMD’s Wi-Fi capabilities, delivering exceptional connection options to OEMs and end-users. In 2022 and beyond, the Filogic 330P chipset will power the next-generation AMD Ryzen-series laptop and desktop PCs. This will deliver fast Wi-Fi speeds with low latency and less interference.
MediaTek’s new Filogic 130 and Filogic 130A
MediaTek also announced the new Filogic 130 and Filogic 130A Single-chip Solutions. They both integrate microprocessor, AI engine, power management unit, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity in IoT devices. With these solutions, device makers are now able to add voice assistants and other features into their products.
Both the Filogic 130 and Filogic 130A include 1T1R Wi-Fi 6 connection as well as dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz. They also have modern Wi-Fi capabilities including target wake time (TWT), MU-MIMO, MU-OFDMA, quality of service (QoS), and WPA3 Wi-Fi security. Besides, both of them integrate an Arm Cortex-M33 microcontroller.
MediaTek designed these to optimize also power efficiency in the smallest and lowest-power form factor possible. That is to allow devices to get Energy Star and Green Appliance ratings and certifications.
