MediaTek today unveiled two new Kompanio chipsets for Chromebooks: the Kompanio 520 and Kompanio 528.
MediaTek Kompanio 520 and Kompanio 528 are now official!
The newest Kompanio chipsets offer a seamless experience so customers can browse, play cloud games, stream content, and utilize Google Play apps while enjoying all-day battery life thanks to the improved computational speed and battery life for low-level Chromebooks.
“Enhanced power efficiency, speedy performance, and reliable connectivity are at the core of a great user experience, and that’s exactly what MediaTek’s new Kompanio chipsets deliver,” said PC Tseng, general manager of the Intelligent Multimedia Business Unit at MediaTek.
For slick and quick performance, the Kompanio 520 and Kompanio 528 both incorporate two premium Arm Cortex-A76 CPU cores within an octa-core CPU in addition to an updated dual-core graphics engine.

Moreover, the Kompanio 520’s Arm Cortex-A76 cores can run up to 2GHz and 2.2GHz, respectively. while enhancing battery life so consumers may go longer between charges with the Kompanio 528. Multitasking is simple, and users may start up in just a few seconds thanks to the strong octa-core CPU and the incredibly effective RAM and storage choices.
Each chipset incorporates a dual-core AI processing unit (APU) to provide apps with enhanced AI enhancements and AI camera features. Additionally, marketers may pair the Kompanio chipsets with MediaTek’s Filogic Wi-Fi 6 solutions for quick and dependable connectivity when customers are streaming and playing cloud games.
For 2X faster performance, the new multimedia engine incorporates VP9 decoding and H.265 encoding, as well as a dedicated HiFi-5 DSP for ultra-low power audio microphone processing. The chipsets also offer Full HD video recording at 60 frames per second for smooth video conferencing.
The Full HD+ displays supported by the Kompanio 520 and Kompanio 528, as well as the option for customers to connect an additional Full HD external monitor, offer more than double the resolution of earlier generation chipsets.
In addition, dual monitors may be used to increase productivity at work, users can stream movies using a smart TV, and projectors can even be used in educational settings.
