“Meta Verified is rolling out in the U.S. today,” Zuckerberg said on his Meta Channel. “You can get a badge, proactive impersonation protection, and direct access to customer support.”
Similar to Elon Musk’s Twitter Blue service, Meta Verified will grant users a blue tick for $14.99 (₱820) per month on iOS and Android devices, or $11.99 (₱660) per month on the website. The service will be available on Instagram and Facebook.Â
Following Meta’s recent announcement to lay off 10,000 employees, the company has introduced a new feature. Facebook has been a free service for almost two decades, relying mainly on advertising revenue to generate income. However, as advertising revenue declines, Meta is exploring alternative revenue streams. Other social networks in Silicon Valley, such as Snap, Telegram, and Twitter, have also introduced paid verification services to generate revenue independent of advertising.
Become Meta verified
To initiate the verification process, you must activate your Meta Verified subscription, which costs $14.99 (₱820) on iOS/Android or $11.99 (₱660) on Facebook’s web platform. This service is currently available in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand for individuals who are 18 years old or above. Please note that the service is not yet available everywhere, and it’s not intended for business accounts.
Individuals who have already been verified on Instagram and Facebook will not be required to pay for Meta Verified in the future, until Meta discontinues the use of its current ‘legacy’ verification badges.
