Nothing recently introduced the Phone (3a) Community Edition, created through its latest Community Edition Project. The initiative brings together emerging creators and gives them the opportunity to influence real consumer tech, from hardware and software to packaging and marketing.

Instead of using community input only as feedback, the program highlights new creative talent and allows them to help shape the device. The 2025 run covered hardware design, custom lock screen elements, accessories, packaging, and campaign development. Last year’s edition earned an iF Design Gold Award, further raising interest in the program.

More than 700 creators submitted entries this year across design, software, accessories, and visual storytelling. From those submissions, four winners were selected for their originality and contribution to Nothing’s design direction: Emre Kayganaci for Hardware Design, Ambrogio Tacconi and Louis Aymond for Accessory Design, Jad Zock for Lock Screen Clock and Wallpaper Design, and Sushruta Sarkar for the Marketing Campaign.
The winning creators worked closely with Nothing’s Design, Software, Marketing, and Creative teams in London to turn their concepts into production-ready output. Nothing also refined the program process this year by releasing all briefs at the same time and providing participants with more time and resources. Each category winner also received a £1,000 cash prize.

Nothing continues to build a broader model that brings its community into more of its decision-making. Alongside the Community Edition program, the company has initiatives such as the Community Board Observer role and ongoing opportunities for fans to participate in shaping future products. Recently, the company also opened a new 5 million dollar community investment round at its 1.3 billion dollar Series C valuation. Early access begins on 10 December via Wefunder in the US and Crowdcube, with public access on 11 December.
