Looking for an affordable smartphone for your photography hobby, or simply a phone that excels in taking photos and videos? The nubia Focus Pro 5G might be the one you’re searching for. In this article, I’ll share my full review of this phone.

    nubia Focus Pro 5G Camera

    Camera

Let’s start with the camera since this is the phone’s main highlight. I’ll be honest—while the image quality of the nubia Focus Pro 5G isn’t top-tier, it certainly stands out compared to other phones in this price range.

For me, the color processing is a bit lacking. The colors aren’t as saturated and can appear somewhat pale. However, in terms of details, the photos I captured are sharp, especially in well-lit environments.

To recap, it has a 108MP main camera with an unspecified ultra-wide lens and another auxiliary lens for the rear camera setup. On the front, there’s a 32MP selfie shooter.

The physical camera button and the customizable shortcut slider (which I set to open the camera) made capturing pictures easier, especially when I was in a rush.

One issue I encountered with the camera app, though, is the delay in capturing photos. It often takes around 3–5 seconds, making it feel like the app is frozen. Hopefully, Nubia can address this in future updates, as it’s frustrating when you’re trying to capture special moments.

As for the video, the quality is quite good since it already supports up to 4K@30fps resolution, and the built-in Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) plus the Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) are a welcome feature, especially for those with shaky hands.

The camera modes available include: Photo, Video, Night, Portrait, 108MP, Star trail, Electronic aperture, Light draw, Time-lapse, Pro, Macro, Document, Panorama, Multi-exposure, and Monocolor.

Here are some sample photos taken with the nubia Focus Pro 5G:

    Display and Multimedia Experience

Moving on to the display, the nubia Focus Pro 5G offers a decent viewing experience, even with just an IPS LCD panel.

    nubia Focus Pro 5G Display

Watching content on this device is enjoyable thanks to its FHD resolution and large 6.72-inch display. Although the display isn’t as vibrant as AMOLED panels, it’s not too noticeable unless you’re directly comparing it to a device with AMOLED.

The 120Hz refresh rate also made the phone feel smooth in daily use. So far, the high refresh rate works well without the lag that you often find in other budget devices.

While Nubia hasn’t specified the maximum brightness of the display, I found it to be sufficiently bright for outdoor use, with the screen remaining clearly visible even in sunlight.

One drawback is the single-firing speaker, as the audio quality falls short, especially for music or videos. I often find myself reaching for earphones to enhance the sound experience. It’s also worth noting that the phone lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you’ll need to use wireless earphones.

    Performance

I was pleasantly surprised by this phone’s performance. Despite being camera-centric, it delivers impressive power, something rarely seen in phones at this price point.

To recall, it features a 6nm Unisoc T760 octa-core chipset with a Mali-G57 GPU, along with 8GB of RAM, which easily handles daily tasks and provides smooth multitasking.

What surprised me the most was that it can run Genshin Impact at medium-high settings, and the gameplay was pretty smooth. Naturally, Mobile Legends and Call of Duty: Mobile ran without a hitch, making the gaming experience enjoyable. However, the phone does feel a bit heavy, which might cause some hand fatigue during extended gaming sessions.

In benchmarks, the phone scored 486,904 on AnTuTu, although I couldn’t test PCMark as it wasn’t supported.

The MyOS13 based on Android 13, provided a seamless experience, and I didn’t encounter any bugs in the software.

    Battery

As for the battery, the phone gave me almost a full day of use. However, I noticed that it drains slightly faster than some other phones I’ve tested. But if you’re just doing casual tasks, the 5,000mAh battery capacity should suffice. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to run a full battery benchmark due to app compatibility issues.

On the bright side, it supports 33W fast charging, so it doesn’t take long to fully charge the device.

    Final Verdict

In conclusion, the nubia Focus Pro 5G is a great purchase. Aside from its solid camera performance compared to other phones in this price range, its overall performance makes it a versatile daily companion. Despite being camera-centric, it can even handle graphically demanding games like Genshin Impact.

I do hope Nubia continues to optimize the phone in future updates to further improve the user experience, especially with the slow camera app. But for photography enthusiasts or students looking for a feature-packed device at an affordable price, this phone is highly recommended.
