Are you eyeing the OPPO Pad SE? This budget-friendly tablet from OPPO Philippines has just been released, and we’re here to share our first impressions to give you a quick look at what this device brings to the table.
If you are curious about the experience of unboxing the OPPO Pad SE, you can watch our unboxing video on our Facebook page.
Design and Build Quality
This is my first time seeing and holding an OPPO tablet in person, and I must say, the OPPO Pad SE looks quite premium despite its affordable price point. It features an aluminum alloy body, which gives it a solid and sturdy feel in the hand. It’s also relatively thin at just 7.39mm and weighs 530g for the standard variant, while the Matte Display edition is slightly lighter at 527g.
The tablet is available in two eye-catching colors: Starlight Silver and Twilight Blue. Our review unit is in Starlight Silver, and I really like its elegant silver tone. The back has a slightly matte texture, but it’s still a smudge magnet. Since I tend to have sweaty hands, it easily picks up fingerprints. For that reason, I highly recommend using a case, not only to keep it clean but also to provide added protection.
As for the rear camera, it’s positioned at the top center of the tablet when held in landscape orientation. This placement is ideal, especially if you often use the tablet in landscape mode, as it prevents your hand from accidentally covering the camera. However, when using the device in portrait orientation, your hand is more likely to touch the camera, which could result in smudges on the lens.
For input and output, we can see the two speakers, USB-C port, and microphone on the right side, while there’s the power button and another two speakers on the left. The volume buttons and a microphone are located at the top of the tablet, while its bottom is empty.
Display
The OPPO Pad SE features a large 11-inch LCD display with a 2K resolution and supports a 90Hz refresh rate, with a peak brightness of up to 500 nits. So far, the display quality looks good to me, and the bezel thickness feels just right, not too thin or too thick. It’s a bit unfortunate that we didn’t get to try the Matte Display edition, which would have been perfect for me since I tend to have sweaty hands.
The screen looks vibrant and far from cheap, making it enjoyable to watch videos and stream content. We will share more detailed insights about the display in our in-depth review, but for now, it’s safe to say that the screen is already impressive for its price point. The inclusion of a 90Hz refresh rate is also a great bonus for smoother visuals.
Hardware and Software
At its core, the OPPO Pad SE is powered by a 6nm MediaTek Helio G100 octa-core chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. I just wish OPPO had opted for a higher RAM configuration to offer a smoother multitasking experience.
It also packs a massive 9,340mAh battery that supports 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging. This impressive battery capacity makes it a reliable companion, especially for users like me who depend on their tablets throughout the day.
Out of the box, the tablet runs on ColorOS 15 based on Android 15. The software feels smooth and responsive so far, even with just 4GB of memory and minimal apps installed. I’m also glad to see that it comes free of any unnecessary bloatware.
Camera
As for the camera, it comes with a 5MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera. Its camera is just enough for video calls and capturing images. Since it is just a budget tablet, we cannot expect very high-quality photos or videos. Just manage your expectations.
Other features
The OPPO Pad SE features Personalized Kids Mode, providing a secure, password-free environment where your children can use and explore apps that you only approve. With this feature, you have full control over app access, screen time, and eye care features.
This budget tablet also features the O+ Connect that we first tried with the OPPO Reno13 5G. This feature allows you to connect and transfer files from iPhones or iPads with ease.
Moreover, another feature it boasts is seamless cross-device connectivity I haven’t tried yet. If you have an OPPO phone, this feature allows it to connect to your phone for communication sharing, screen mirroring, and drag-and-drop files.
Of course, like other devices today, the OPPO Pad SE also comes with AI features, such as Google Gemini, AI Assistant for Notes, and AI Intelligent Document. For editing photos, it also features AI Clarity Enhancer, AI Unblur, AI Erase, and AI Reflection.
