Before the year ends, POCO released the POCO C65, a new budget smartphone that is one of the best choices to buy as a gift this holiday season. Based on its specs, it is good for parents and students, and consumers with a tight budget.
But to confirm if it is really worth buying, we bought it and tried it. That’s why in this article, I will share with you my insights on this phone.
Unboxing the new POCO C65
It’s been a long time since I last unboxed a POCO device and the packaging design is still almost the same. It still comes with a yellow box that has the model name at the lower right of the box as well as on both sides of the box.
When we open the box, the first thing we see is the POCO C65 with a plastic wrap and a sticker attached to the screen. Next, we will see the box that contains the SIM ejector tool, safety information, and a quick start guide. When we remove that box, we will see its USB-C cable and 10W power adapter. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a free jelly case and screen protector.
As for its design, the POCO C65 has a boxy design and it is very premium to hold due to its flat sides. Its back has a matte finish that makes fingerprints and smudges not noticeable. By the way, the available colors of this phone are Blue and Black.
The design of its back reminds me of the OPPO A57. However, the camera island of this device is glossy and large like other POCO devices. Speaking of its camera island, it has a triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP main shooter, a 2MP macro lens, and a 0.08MP auxiliary lens. For the selfie camera, it has an 8MP front camera.
When it comes to its I/O, we can see on its left side the dedicated SIM tray, and then on its right side are the volume buttons and power button/fingerprint scanner. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top, while the microphone, USB-C port, and stereo speaker are on the bottom.
I also liked its display because it features a 90Hz screen refresh rate. It also has a 6.74-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution, up to 450nits max brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
Inside this phone is the 12nm MediaTek Helio G85 octa-core processor paired with up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB eMMC 5.1 storage. It also supports a RAM expansion feature that can provide additional up to 6GB Virtual RAM.
It is also good news that it has a microSD card slot that supports up to 1TB in case the 128GB or 256GB internal storage is not enough for your needs.
This POCO C65 also has a large 5,000mAh battery capacity that supports 18W PD charging. However, just as I have mentioned above, the included power adapter is just 10W. But if you already have an 18W power adapter, it’s better.
Lastly, its software which is MIUI 14 based on Android 13. It’s just disappointing that it has so many bloatwares out of the box but we can also uninstall them.
We currently testing this phone and we will be releasing our review soon. If you have anything you want to know about this phone, you can comment below.
