The 5G technology is truly and currently improving because of its continued advancements. Today, the chipmaker Qualcomm launches the Snapdragon X65 5G and Snapdragon X62 Modem-RF System, their 4th-generation 5G modem-to-antenna solutions.
The Snapdragon X65 5G is the first 5G modem that can provide wireless speed up to 10Gbps. It acquires this top download speed with the help of the 1,000MHz bandwidth with 10 carrier aggregation. That speed is 100 times faster compared to the early LTE in 2010 and 2.5Gbps faster than the X60 5G modem. However, the lower-end Snapdragon X62 can provide up to 4.6Gbps download speed and 400MHz. And these two chips support sub-6 and mmWave 5G.
They based these new chips on 3GPP Release 16, which is also known as “5G phase 2”. The company also revealed that these are both upgradable to upcoming 5G features via software updates.
Qualcomm uses the new QTM545 mmWave antenna, which can transmit a higher power compared to the previous designs. It can also support all global frequencies including the new n259 band at 41GHz. Besides, it also has the AI antenna tuning feature that can detect a user’s handgrip more accurately to help improve data speeds, coverage, and battery life.
Qualcomm already sent samples of the Snapdragon X65 and X62 to manufacturers and release them by late 2021.
