Another budget-friendly 5G chipset has Qualcomm announced this year. The new Snapdragon 480 is an affordable chipset that already features 5G connectivity. It is based on the 8nm process and built with an integrated Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF system.
Snapdragon 480 has the Kyro 460 performance cores based on the Cortex-A76 that is clocked at 2.0Ghz. It has Adreno 619 for the GPU that we might expect to perform decently in handling the graphics. Moreover, Qualcomm claimed that it will provide over 100% performance improvement from the previous Snapdragon 460. Also, the AI performance of Qualcomm Hexagon 686 will bring a 70% improvement from the previous generation.
Furthermore, it can support up to 120Hz screen refresh rate with FHD+ resolution, 64MP camera, and recording full HD at 60fps. It additionally supports SA and NSA modes, TDD, FDD, and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) for unbeatable flexibility and accessibility. This chipset features Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity.
We should wait for smartphone brands to feature this new budget-friendly 5G chipset because it comes with a great specification. We might expect Vivo, Xiaomi, Nokia, Realme, and other brands to use this chipset in their 5G line up.
