Qualcomm has announced its new Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 chipsets for Windows laptops and Chromebooks.
Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 flagship chipset
The Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 is a flagship 5nm chipset that has extreme performance and efficiency. It boasts up to 85% faster CPU performance and up to 60% faster GPU performance than its predecessor. This chipset also features up to 10Gbps lightning-fast 5G connection speeds and industry-leading WiFi 6/6E.
Since this chipset is a 5nm architecture, it can provide you up to 25+ hours of usage on a single charge. It means that it can give you up to twice battery life compared to other competitors. They claimed that it supports up to multi-day battery life, but it still depends on your usage and laptop.
Moreover, it can also give three times greater than its predecessor when it comes to AI engines. They upgraded it and now offering a 29+ TOPS of powerful compute acceleration. According to Qualcomm, it allows for immersive video and audio experiences in video conferencing software such as Teams or Zoom. It supports up to 4K HDR video, up to 24MP, autofocus, auto white balance, and auto exposure. Besides, it also has Hi-Fi audio and AI accelerated echo-cancellation and noise suppression (ECNS).
Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3
Next is the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3, Qualcomm design this chipset for affordable Windows laptops. It is a 6nm architecture that offers 60% faster CPU and 70% faster GPU performance compared to its predecessor. It provides 6.5 TOPS of AI compute power from 5 TOPS of Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 chipset.
In addition, it can also give a multi-day battery life since it can also provide long-lasting performance. However, the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 and 8cx Gen 3 chipset has a fanless design because of reduced power usage.
Regarding its connectivity, this chipset also supports 5G that can deliver up to 3.7Gbps download speed. It also supports Wi-Fi 6E at speeds of up to 2.9 Gbps.
Lastly, these new chipsets feature enterprise-grade security to help keep your data safe. They included secure boot and the new Microsoft Pluton TPM architecture, which runs on the Qualcomm® Secure Processing Unit (SPU).
