Samsung Electronics announced two new additions to the Galaxy Book lineup, the Galaxy Book Go and Galaxy Book Go 5G. These new laptops feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon compute platforms rather than their own Exynos chipsets.
Both two laptops have a 16:9 aspect ratio 14-inch 1920 x 1080 FHD resolution TFT screen. They also come with up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB eUFS storage. Besides, they also both have a 42.3Whr battery that can last up to 18 hours and supports 25W quick charging. Also, these new laptops have 2 x 1.5W speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
The Galaxy Book Go features the 8nm Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 processor which is an entry-level chipset for laptops. Also, this processor has 2.55GHz which delivers fast and responsive performance as well as supports 4G LTE connectivity. For the graphics, it features Adreno 618 GPU that can give you a decent graphics performance.
Moreover, the Galaxy Book Go 5G features the more powerful Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 process that supports 5G connectivity. Although its processor has an unspecified Adreno GPU model, Qualcomm said that this processor can provide superior graphics performance and battery life.
In addition, this Galaxy Book Go series is Windows 10 based laptop, but they don’t mention what version of Windows 10.
Other features are 2x 2 MIMO, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, and HD camera. For the ports, it has a microSD card slot, nano-SIM slot, USB-C, USB 2.0, and a 3.5mm headphone mic combo.
This Galaxy Book Go series offers additional options at a more affordable price to users who want to achieve more anytime, anyplace. They may also enjoy the Galaxy ecosystem experiences when paired with their Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and wearables.
Price and availability
The LTE and WiFi variant will be available in the US this June 10, 2021, with a USD 349 starting price. However, the 5G and LTE variant will be available later this year. Additionally, there’s no announcement yet when these laptops will be available in the Philippines.
