Samsung is adding two new phones to its Galaxy A lineup in the Philippines — the Galaxy A17 (available in both 5G and LTE versions) and the more affordable Galaxy A07 LTE. These models are built for everyday use, mixing in a few AI tricks, bigger displays, and improved durability without pushing the price too high.
One of the main highlights is AI. The Galaxy A17 now comes with Google Gemini built in. You can press and hold the side button to pull it up, or even use Gemini Live, which lets you run voice-only commands to control apps like Spotify or other third-party services. Another handy feature is Circle to Search with Google, where you just circle something on your screen to look it up right away. It can even recognize music that’s playing around you.
For cameras, the Galaxy A17 packs a 50MP main sensor, a 5MP ultrawide, and a smaller 2MP lens. Samsung also added better optical image stabilization this time, which should help with shaky hands and night shots.
Both the A17 and A07 are made for entertainment on the go. They now feature 90Hz refresh rates, so scrolling and gaming feel smoother. The A17 has the bigger 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, while both phones use an upgraded processor to handle everyday apps and multitasking better than the previous generation.
Battery life looks promising too. Both models have fast charging at 25W, so you won’t be tied to the charger for long.
Samsung also committed to six Android version upgrades and six years of security updates for these devices, which is rare for budget phones. Security features like Samsung Knox Vault and Theft Protection are also included. That means your data is kept in a separate secure chip, and you can remotely lock the phone if it gets lost or stolen.
When it comes to build, Samsung used Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer for the back cover, keeping the phones light but still sturdy. The Galaxy A17 even has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and both phones are rated IP54, which means they can handle dust and a bit of splashing.
As for size, the Galaxy A17 is 7.5mm thick and weighs under 200 grams depending on whether you get the 5G or LTE model. The Galaxy A07 is slightly slimmer at 7.6mm and weighs 184 grams.
