“Smart empowers the youth to pursue their passions. Our creativity camp allows them to express their emotions through visual arts. Through their creations, they tell us about their passion for sustainable practices,” said Melvin Consunji Nubla, FVP and Head of Smart Go-To-Market and Subscriber Management.
National U students practice sustainability by opting for metal beverage containers instead of buying drinks in PET bottles to lessen single-use plastic waste. Using art materials provided at the Creativity Camp, the students personalized their containers to show their passion for protecting the environment during the two-day camp.
With the help of multimedia artist Ana Luciano, even those who doubted their art skills learned how to make patterns and templates on water flasks. They also used stickers provided by Smart to enhance their designs.
The top three creations received special prizes from Smart.
“My creation reflects who I am. It represents the talents and diversity of the transgender people,” said Architecture student Arci Igagamao, who took home second place honors and P5,000 in cash.
Participants also acknowledged the importance of the internet in pursuing their passions. Smart’s Power All 99 is the perfect companion to power the youth’s digital lifestyle. It comes with 8 GB of shareable data for all sites and apps, unlimited TikTok and unlimited texts to all networks for seven days.
“I’m passionate about photography and graphic design. The internet helps me look for inspiration and how to develop my skills,” said AB Communication student Janelyn del Mundo, who collaborated with Accountancy junior Iya Katrina Palentinos in designing the winning flask that earned them P8,000 in cash.
Pharmacy student Allaine Sabareza bagged third prize and P2,000 in cash. All winners also took home Hydro Flask stainless steel bottles with boots and gifts for their respective school organizations.
Smart also set up a SIM Registration Booth to help National U students register their mobile numbers ahead of the July 25 deadline.
Smart plans to hold more Creativity Camps to allow more students to unleash their passion for the arts and sustainability.
The Smart Creativity Camp is part of the PLDT group’s broad range of activities that empowers and builds bridges of collaboration across sectors and communities towards a sustainable future.
