“Just recently, Smart’s 5G network was recognized by Opensignal for having the Best 5G Coverage Experience. To sustain this level of performance, we are continuously optimizing our network, especially in key strategic areas, to ensure that we cater to the increasing demand of subscribers who would like to have higher speeds, lower latency and more reliability from their mobile service for their online needs,” said Eric Santiago, First Vice President and Head of Network Strategy and Engineering at PLDT and Smart.
Santiago added that Smart’s self-optimizing network also serves to enhance subscriber experience on compatible handsets, such as the recently launched Smart ZTE Blade A75 5G, Smart’s most affordable 5G device.
“We have put in place a self-optimizing network that intelligently adjusts to the needs of our subscribers in order to deliver the best customer experience, whether on 4G/LTE or 5G, wherever they may be in the country,” Santiago said. Currently, PLDT and Smart are also utilizing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning across their network, joining global operators in the adoption of the technology.
The PLDT Group’s continued investments in enhancing its integrated network and in innovating its products and services are aligned with the group’s commitment to democratize access to the latest technologies like 5G, enable 5G for all, and deliver leveled-up customer experience across the country. Smart’s award-winning mobile network, recently recognized for delivering the Philippines’ Best 5G Coverage Experience, according to the latest report by independent analytics firm Opensignal, covers 97% of the population and is part of the Philippines’ largest integrated network that includes PLDT’s most extensive fiber infrastructure.
Smart’s innovative mobile products and services contribute to the PLDT Group’s endeavors to narrow the digital divide, provide connectivity to all, and achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) particularly SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. These also reinforce the Group’s support for the Government’s overall digitalization thrust.
