The Social Security System (SSS) has rolled out a new card that combines identification and banking features for its members, pensioners, and beneficiaries. Called the MySSS Card, the new system officially went live on October 1, 2025, replacing the long-used Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID) card.
The initiative follows a directive from Department of Finance Secretary and Social Security Commission ex-officio Chair Ralph G. Recto, who earlier instructed the SSS to deliver faster and more convenient services to pensioners and members.
What is the MySSS Card?
SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph Montes De Claro said the card has a dual purpose. It now acts as the official SSS ID while also functioning as a debit card linked to a bank savings account.
De Claro highlighted that the card is equipped with an EMV chip and is integrated with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) eVerify, along with biometric authentication. This ensures that transactions remain safe and secure.
With the MySSS Card, members can receive pensions, loans, and other SSS benefits more conveniently. It also works for everyday financial transactions such as shopping, online purchases, and even paying for public transport.
“The MySSS Card merges social security benefits with digital banking, offering members a comprehensive way to access benefits, loans, and pensions quickly and conveniently,” De Claro said.
Where to Get the Card
SSS has partnered with several banks for the rollout, starting with Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC). Other banks, including Asia United Bank (AUB), China Bank, and Union Bank of the Philippines, will follow soon.
Once issued, the MySSS Card will automatically serve as the main disbursement account for members. De Claro explained that this means members no longer need to register the card through the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module (DAEM).
RCBC, through its DiskarTech digital platform, is the first bank to implement the program. “The SSS and RCBC partnership marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation of government services,” De Claro added.
Who Can Apply?
The MySSS Card is available to:
- SSS members
- Pensioners
- Individual claimants
- Beneficiaries
- Representative payees
To qualify, applicants must have:
- A permanent SS number
- An active My.SSS account with updated personal details such as address, mobile number, and email
- Registration under the Philippine Statistics Authority’s National ID system (PhilSys)
Members who currently hold old SSS IDs or UMID cards can also apply for the new card to replace them.
How to Apply
Applications can be made through the My.SSS portal. Members must choose their partner bank (currently RCBC) and give consent for data sharing between SSS, the National ID system, and the bank.
After online verification, a bank account must be opened through the bank’s mobile app or at a branch. For RCBC, this process can be completed via the DiskarTech app.
Once approved, the partner bank will produce and distribute the MySSS Card. Delivery is expected within 15 working days for Metro Manila residents and 20 working days for those outside the capital.
Part of Digital Transformation
De Claro emphasized that the launch of the MySSS Card is part of a wider digital transformation of government services. This initiative, led by Finance Secretary Recto, is aimed at making SSS services more accessible and efficient for millions of Filipino workers and pensioners.
