vivo is rolling out a major software update for its users worldwide. On October 15, 2025, the company will officially introduce OriginOS to the global market during a launch event in Shanghai, China.
OriginOS 6 launching globally soon!
Until now, OriginOS has only been available in China. vivo phones in other regions, including the Philippines, have relied on FuntouchOS, the brand’s Android-based system first released back in 2013. With this upcoming shift, millions of users will finally get to try out the smoother interface, smarter features, and customization options that OriginOS has been known for.
In a recent video posted by vivo Philippines, Shi Yujian, the company’s Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, said that OriginOS was built to deliver a “smoother and smarter mobile experience.” vivo Philippines CEO Zeng Kai added that the update is a big step forward in speed, design, and intelligence, aiming to improve how Filipinos connect and create every day.
vivo X300 Series Debut
The first devices to feature OriginOS 6, based on Android 16, will be the upcoming vivo X300 Series. The phones are expected to launch globally in October, right alongside the new operating system. vivo says users can expect faster performance and a more polished design from the moment they start using it.
Launch Event Details
The global launch will be streamed live from Shanghai on October 15. Fans can tune in through vivo’s official website and social channels on Facebook, X, Instagram, and TikTok for real-time updates and coverage.
The release of OriginOS outside China marks a big milestone for vivo and its software journey. For users long accustomed to FuntouchOS, this update could be the most significant change to their smartphone experience in over a decade.
