This week, Ookla released their recent Speedtest Global Index Market Analyses for the 3rd quarter of this year. It shows that iPhone 12 Pro 5G and Smart dominate in test results. Let’s find out more about their rankings.
Philippines’ Mobile and Fixed Broadband Internet Speeds
For this quarter, they provided updated analyses for 43 markets including the Philippines. As usual, it includes information on the fastest mobile and fixed broadband providers, the performance of the most popular devices and chipsets, and city internet speeds.
According to Speedtest Intelligence, Smart was the fastest mobile operator among leading providers in the Philippines in Q3 2021. Smart got the of 59.71Mbps on modern chipsets, followed by 28.38Mbps for the Globe, then 25Mbps for DITO. In terms of latency, Smart also has the best latency of 20ms, while DITO has a high 24ms, and 25ms for Globe.
For 5G performance in this quarter, Smart had the fastest median download in the Philippines. Smart Communications reaches 217.03Mbps and Globe only has an average of 114.12Mbps.
Moreover, Ookla also has an analysis of performance on some premium smartphones in the Philippines. Surprisingly, Apple dominates this analysis since three of its devices got to the top. For the results, iPhone 12 Pro 5G got the fastest download median speed in the Philippines this Q3 of 2021 with 75.27Mbps.
Next, the iPhone 12 Pro Max 5G (74.68Mbps) and iPhone 12 5G (73.77Mbps) acquired 2nd and 3rd place. Besides, Xiaomi Redmi K40 5G comes in fourth with 73.13 Mbps, while the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G comes in fifth with 72.16 Mbps.
Ookla also looked at the overall performance of major phone manufacturers. They found out that Apple had the fastest median download speed in the Philippines this Q3 2021 for reaching 27.71Mbps. See the image below for reference.
They also assess internet speed in the Philippines’ most populated cities. Caloocan appeared to have the fastest median mobile download speed with 22.05Mbps during this quarter.
