Qualcomm introduces Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G, 695 5G, 480 Plus 5G, 680 4G mid-range chipsets.
Qualcomm has introduced new Snapdragon 7, 6, and 4 Series
Let’s start with the new Snapdragon 680 4G chip that will compete in the LTE category of smartphones. This chipset has a 6nm node and uses Kyro 265 CPU cores as well as Adreno 610 GPU. It highlights superior performance together with conserving power. Besides, it now supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 for faster charging and power optimization.
Snapdragon 680 4G also features Qualcomm Spectra 346 Triple ISP. This feature allows you to process three photos or videos at the same time. Also expect a reliable 4G LTE connection with this chipset, thanks to its Snapdragon X11 LTE modem.
Next is the Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G that will bring a faster experience than its predecessor. Even it still possesses the old Kyro 460 CPU and Adreno 619 GPU, its clock has boosted to 2.2GHz. It is capable of driving FHD+ displays at up to 120Hz, while the Snapdragon 680 is only capable of doing so at 90Hz.
The 6nm Snapdragon 695 5G is an upgrade over the last year’s 8nm Snapdragon 690. It equips the newer Kyro 660 and Adreno 619, compared to Kyro 560 and Adreno 619L of its predecessor. With that, it now comes with up to 15% CPU performance as well as up to 30% GPU performance improvement.
Moreover, the Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G and 695 5G both support Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF system for better 5G connectivity.
Meanwhile, the 6nm Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G includes the boosted Kyro 670 CPU and Adreno 642L GPU. This chipset is perfect for gaming since it has some Snapdragon Elite Gaming features like a 20% faster response of Game Quick Touch. They also designed this chipset to deliver accelerated artificial intelligence for extraordinary photo and video experiences.
However, it still has an X53 Modem-RF system that brings up to 3.7Gbps download and 1.6Gbps upload speed. In addition, these three new 5G chipsets still feature Quick Charge 4+ that can refuel 0-50% in just 15 minutes.
“Mid-range smartphones are expected to be the main driver for accelerating 5G device adoption – especially in emerging regions,” said Deepu John, senior director, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “These four new additions to our roadmap create significant opportunity for our OEM customers and provides additional options to continue to meet the growing demand for our 5G and 4G mobile platforms.”
Expect HMD Global, Honor, Motorola, OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi to feature these mobile processors soon.
