The nationwide registration of Globe’s more than 87.4 million customers has already been discussed by the telecommunications company, as they confirmed just this week that they already conducted preparations to guarantee smooth and user-friendly accommodations for Globe SIM card registration of their 80+ million customers.
Ernest Cu, president and CEO of Globe Group, stated, “We intend for our SIM registration process to be as seamless and painless to our customers as possible. Our goal is to stay true to the spirit of the law in carrying out its provisions, while ensuring that the conduct of SIM registration will be secure, inclusive and convenient for our customers,”.
SIM Card Registration Act
To give a short description, the SIM Card Registration Act aims to encourage users of SIM cards to be accountable and support law enforcements in locating offenders who commit crimes using mobile devices, or usually known as mobile scammers and frauds. This bill strengthens government efforts to fight frauds that are carried out through text and internet messages, which have grown increasingly common over the past several years, especially this pandemic.
The National Telecommunications Commission started communicating with key government agencies and stakeholders, including telecoms, to start drafting the needed implementing rules and regulations under the SIM Card Registration Bill, which was signed into law just this October 10.
Globe stated that they will begin Globe SIM card registration for all users, including those with physical SIM cards and those with e-SIMs on mobile devices, as soon as the IRR has been authorized and published.

During the creation of their Globe SIM card registration platform, Globe claimed to be seeking and learning on global best practices. The telecom giant aims to provide a simple yet secure registration mechanism.
Just within the last few weeks and months, Globe took numerous security measures already to protect their customers. They have actively blocked potential incoming scam links, numbers, and messages sent through their platform, as well as providing awareness and education campaigns to their subscribers. Globe has also done threat intelligence partnerships with financial organizations and made a customer reporting programs.
Globe’s status from January to September of this year, the telco has already banned 16,215 mobile devices and suspended an additional 19,343 due to their involvement in spam and scam messaging. Not only that, because there have also been 1.3 billion spam and scam communications that were immediately blocked.
How to register your SIM
There is still only a few information on the government and telco’s final say about the complete steps on SIM card registration, but here are some of the steps available.
Step 1: On your SIM card provider’s website, accomplish an “E-registration form” which comes with a control number. This was said to need the following information: Full name, date of birth, gender, home address, SIM number, as well as its serial number.
Step 2: Validate and declare that all information provided on the electronic registration form is true and correct. This could be done by the requirement of a government issued valid ID that has a photo.
