Smartphones are getting cheaper nowadays, you can now buy one for only PHP 3,499, like the Itel A60s 4G. But is it good even if it’s cheap? Let’s see!Â
Unboxing and DesignÂ
The box of the Itel A60s is just like other Itel phones. Inside the box, we will see the Itel A60s 4G, hard case, 10W adapter, micro USB cable, SIM ejector pin, and wired earphones. Earphones are rarely included these days, especially at this price point.Â
Since it was the first time I bought a phone from Itel, I thought it was just a stone when it was delivered to me. Because when you shake it, something is shaking inside, it’s just that its accessories don’t have a divider that’s why.
Moving on to its design, the available colorways of this phone are green and black. We have here the green one, and its design is very appealing for its price. The pattern on its back is like a diamond, and the texture is the same as the design. When you touch it, there are bumps on each diamond.Â
Itel A60s is also comfortable to hold even with its hard case on since the hard case is open on the left and right sides.
Speaking of the side, we can see its Dedicated SIM tray on its left side, while the volume rockers and power button are on its right side. At the bottom, there is the mic, micro USB port, and stereo speaker. The 3.5mm headphone jack is at the top. On the back, there is a big camera island with dual cameras, a flash, and a fingerprint scanner.Â
Yes, the fingerprint scanner is on the back, it’s a bit old-fashioned but still good. It’s just that, it’s a bit slow to respond, so just take note.Â
CameraÂ
Let’s talk about its camera, this Itel A60s has an 8MP main shooter and depth sensor, then on the front, there is a 5MP selfie camera. In the photos I took with this phone, the quality isn’t that good. Especially in low light, the image you will get is a bit grainy.Â
Sample photos:
But after all, it’s decent since its price is only PHP 3,000+, it already has auto-focus and Pro mode. Its video quality is also acceptable and usable since it already has up to 1080p max resolution.Â

Display and MultimediaÂ
This Itel A60s also has a 6.6-inch Waterdrop display with HD+ or 720p resolution. I can say that its display quality is decent, although it’s only 60Hz of course, but it’s just right for browsing on social media or chatting with your sweetheart.Â
The colors produced by its screen are not that accurate, but you will still enjoy watching Netflix or YouTube videos here.Â
For its price, the sound quality of its speakers is acceptable. Its speaker is even louder compared to the realme C53 which has 150% volume. But of course, I would still recommend that you use earphones.Â
PerformanceÂ
The next thing we will talk about is its performance. Let’s not expect a very strong performance here since it is cheap. It only has a UNISOC SC9863A octa-core processor with a PowerVR GE8322 GPU which is quite old. If I’m not mistaken, this processor was released in 2018, so the performance of the phone is also in 2018.Â
Even though this Itel A60s has 4GB RAM and supports Dynamic RAM up to 4GB Virtual RAM, it’s still a bit sluggish. So, expect some lags or frame drops in this phone. It can still run the usual apps that we use, but since it is Android 12 Go edition, you should also try to install only Lite version apps like Facebook Lite, Messenger Lite, Instagram Lite, etc.Â
In games, you will also experience some lags, because even in Mobile Legends I experienced frame drops. I also tried to play Call of Duty Mobile here and it also lags a bit. In ML, it supports up to a High refresh rate and high graphics, but maybe it’s better if you only set smooth graphics. Maybe turn on the Low-Resolution Optimization to make your gameplay smoother. In CODM, it only supports low graphics and high frame rate.Â
BatteryÂ
If you will use this as a backup phone, maybe it’s even better since it carries a large 5,000mAh battery capacity. It’s just that it only supports up to 10W charging, so it will take some time to charge it. So far, it does not drain fast, maybe because its processor is not power-hungry.Â
ConclusionÂ
So the question is, can I recommend this phone to you? Well, yes, it’s still okay for me. If you love playing games, especially Mobile Legends and Call of Duty Mobile, maybe this phone is a no. But if you only use this phone for social media, multimedia, entertainment, or for communication, it’s fine. You can still play here but only light games. Besides, for me, this phone is the best for parents, students, or just as a backup phone. But if you can save, save first so you can buy a better one.Â
