Meta just launched the new Threads, a text-based social media program that may compete with Twitter.
Meta’s “Twitter killer” app Threads arrived!
The Threads launch coincides with Elon Musk’s announcement that there would be restrictions on how many tweets you can read in a day on Twitter, even though the platform has been in development since January.
Users may publish and post text on a feed, similar to Twitter, to which followers and other people can respond. Thread users will be able to post images and videos up to 5 minutes in length in the same way as Twitter users do.
Using your Instagram login information will allow you to maintain your username, followers, and verification status. You may also quickly share a Threads post to your Instagram story or as a link on any other platform you like.
Threads allow you to follow and engage with friends and creators who share your interests, including those you follow on Instagram and elsewhere. You may also use Meta’s current safety and user controls.
Posts from people and accounts you follow on Instagram or Threads will appear in your feed, as will recommendations for undiscovered content. You may also filter words from your feed and limit who is allowed to mention you.
It also has enabled all of the key accessibility features that are already present on Instagram, including screen reader support and AI-generated image captions.
Users must currently already have an Instagram account to use Threads. By doing this, users will be able to import their Instagram followers onto their new Threads account.
How to install Threads
- Download Threads at Google Play Store or Apple App Store
- Login with your Instagram account
- Setup your profile or click “import from Instagram”
- Follow other accounts or the same accounts you follow on Instagram
- Click Join Threads
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, reported on Thursday that the app had surpassed 2 million signups in its first two hours in a post on Threads. Later, he said that the app got “10 million sign-ups in seven hours.”
