Recently, we unboxed the latest addition to OPPO Philippines‘ Reno12 Series 5G—the OPPO Reno12 F 5G, an entry-level AI smartphone.Â
Just like its bigger brothers, this phone comes equipped with AI features such as AI Eraser 2.0, AI Studio, AI LinkBoost, and more, which we’ll explore in detail in our in-depth review. For now, let me share my first impressions of this device.Â
Design and Build QualityÂ
The OPPO Reno12 F 5G stands out with its sleek, elegant, and luxurious Cosmos Ring design. Unlike the rest of the Reno12 Series 5G, this model features a unique design that defies its budget-friendly price, making it hard to believe it’s the most affordable variant.Â
Although I haven’t seen the other models in person yet, I find this design more appealing, as it strikes me as more modern. The Cosmos Ring design is particularly impressive, featuring special light effects that illuminate during music playback, charging, notifications, calls, and gaming.Â
The OPPO Reno12 F 5G is available in two stunning colorways: Amber Orange and Olive Green. We have the Olive Green variant that also looks premium, but we’ve also seen the Amber Orange in person, and it’s equally stunning, inspired by the 2024 Color of the Year, Peach Fuzz.Â
For input and output, the volume rockers and power button are on the right, while the left side is empty. At the bottom is its Hybrid SIM slot, microphone, USB-C port, and main stereo speaker. Then we can see the secondary speaker and another microphone at the top.Â
Moreover, the device is comfortable to hold, thanks to its slim 7.69mm thickness and lightweight design at just 187g.Â
Durability is another strong point, with OPPO’s new All-Round Armor structure, which has earned a 5-star rating in the SGS Performance Multi-Scene Protection Testing. This ensures the phone is well-equipped to handle the demands of everyday use. Let’s also add that it has an IP64 dust and water-resistant rating.Â
CameraÂ
This new AI Portrait Expert device has a 50MP main, 2MP macro lens, and 8MP ultra-wide lens for the rear camera setup, while it has a 32MP selfie shooter on the front.Â
It also includes handy features we’ve seen in other Reno12 devices, such as AI Eraser 2.0, which effortlessly removes unwanted objects and seamlessly fills in the background. Additionally, the AI Studio feature adds a fun twist by allowing you to transform any photo of yourself into a personalized digital avatar or profile picture.Â

The OPPO Reno12 F 5G boasts a stunning 6.67-inch OLED screen with FHD+ resolution. It delivers a smooth experience with a 120Hz refresh rate and shines brightly with a peak brightness of up to 2,100 nits.Â
The display also features Smart Eye Protection, which reduces blue light exposure to safeguard your eyes. Besides, it automatically adjusts the screen temperature according to sunrise and sunset times, ensuring a more eye-friendly viewing experience throughout the day.Â
Its display also boasts the Splash Touch feature, which ensures accuracy and responsiveness with every tap or swipe, even if your hands are wet, greasy from cooking, rain-soaked, or sweaty from extended gaming sessions.Â
What’s inside the OPPO Reno12 F 5G?Â
In terms of hardware, the OPPO Reno12 F 5G is powered by the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 octa-core 5G chipset, featuring a Mali-G57 MP2 GPU. This powerful chipset is paired with up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 2.2 of internal storage.Â
To enhance performance further, the device supports RAM Expansion technology, offering up to 12GB of Virtual RAM for an even smoother experience. This device has passed OPPO’s 50-month Fluency Protection test, ensuring smooth and reliable performance for over four years of regular use.Â
OPPO claims that the Reno12 F 5G delivers seamless connectivity with its 360-degree Surround Antenna, AI LinkBoost, BeaconLink, and NFC. On the software side, it comes with ColorOS 14, based on Android 14 out of the box.Â
Lastly, the device is equipped with a robust 5,000mAh battery, supporting 45W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge, which OPPO says can fully charge the phone in just 71 minutes.Â
