Xiaomi has officially revealed the design of its upcoming wide-screen foldable, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, ahead of its September launch in China.
The company previously confirmed that the foldable will launch this month and will be powered by its new Xring O3 chipset. Xiaomi has now confirmed that the device will officially launch in China on September 7.
The launch date puts Xiaomi’s foldable just two days ahead of Apple’s expected unveiling of its first wide-screen foldable, reportedly called the iPhone Ultra.
Xiaomi showcased the Xiaomi 18 Fold in a Nishino Red colorway, giving us our first official look at the device.
The foldable features a triple rear camera setup housed inside a horizontal, pill-shaped camera module. An LED flash is also integrated into the module. The device also has rounded corners and slim bezels around its displays.
The company shared a video of the Xiaomi 18 Fold that provides a closer look at the device, including its internal components and hinge mechanism.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold will feature a 5.38-inch cover display and a larger 7.58-inch inner foldable display.
The device is expected to be powered by the Xring O3, Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship chipset. However, the company has yet to reveal the complete specifications of the processor.
A recent Geekbench listing also suggests that the Xiaomi 18 Fold could come with up to 16GB of RAM and run Android 17 out of the box.
Xiaomi is expected to reveal more details, including the full specifications and pricing, during its launch event in China on September 7.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold’s launch will also come shortly before Apple’s expected entry into the wide-screen foldable market, setting up an interesting comparison between the two devices.
