VALORANT Champions Tour
Riot Games Philippines is preparing to celebrate the highly anticipated 2024 VALORANT Champions Tour finals with Filipino gamers, as all roads lead to champions. This partnership has been formed with ten PC Cafes nationwide, nine Collegiate Esports Organizations, and select OPM artists. The world’s leading publisher of internationally renowned games and esports titles has launched several VALORANT Community Hubs to celebrate the arrival of the Tournament of Champions 2024 and give Pinoy VALORANT players the opportunity to become a VALORANT champion in their community and win special prizes and exclusive swag by participating in local pocket events.Â
The greatest teams from different countries around the world compete in VALORANT Champions, the largest VALORANT event of the year, for the chance to become the next VALORANT Globe Champion. The competition lasts for seven months. After a worldwide kickoff in February, the VALORANT Champions Tour went on to include Masters in Shanghai and Madrid, two Regional League Stages in March and July, and Champions 2024 in Seoul, South Korea, which runs through August 30.
Riot Games Philippines wanted to bring VALORANT Champions to different Pinoy gaming communities. They collaborated with several partners to establish community connections. That includes connections with PC cafes, university esports organizations, and others.
Different PC Cafe branches will be turned into a VALORANT Community Hubs in the Champions 2024 season. Those ten PC cafe branches are: Naos Esports Arena in Taft Avenue, Manila; TNC Cyber Cafe branches located in Quezon City, Malolos, Morayta, Dasmariñas, and Bacolod USLS in Visayas; and Kadiliman Esports Cafe branches in Biñan, Las Piñas, Marikina, and Comembo in Taguig. Gamers may play, watch, and win special edition VCT Supernova merchandise and even exclusive digital codes at the month-long watch parties and pocket events hosted by the partnering PC cafés.
In addition to many college esports organizations organizing Champions 2024 watch parties, Riot Games Philippines will also activate the GG Truck for a watch party in Cebu, where participants may watch with friends and win exclusive Supernova goodies. The University of the Philippines’ UP Gaming Guild, the Enderun Colleges’ Enderun Gaming Guild, the University of Santo Tomas’ Teletigers Esports Club, the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde’s Romancon Gaming, the University of the East’s Zenith Esports, the National University’s Wizards Circle Esports, the Far Eastern University’s FIT iTamaraws Esports Club, and the Ateneo de Manila University’s LG Esports are among the university’s organizations.
Jason Roberto, the Brand Manager for VALORANT at Riot Games Philippines, stated, “VCT Champions 2024 is more than an esport; it’s the culmination of a VALORANT year where both games and esports intersect. Recognizing the country’s competitive gaming culture and esports communities, we want to give players and fans more opportunities to experience and enjoy Champions 2024. This is why we decided to work with several partners to bring the fun and excitement closer to them.”
Champions 2024 PH promos to feature OPM acts
Riot Games is also planning to celebrate Champions 2024 with Filipino gamers and showcase the cultural influence of VALORANT through partnerships with local artists. The event is scheduled to take place in Seoul, South Korea, the global center of pop culture.
Recently, the world was introduced to “SUPERPOWER,” the official Champions 2024 song featuring South Korean pop icons KISS OF LIFE and Mark Tuan. Other in-game elements that tie into the theme include Champions Seoul Drops, Pick’Ems sponsored by Amazon Web Services (AWS), and more.
To spark interest in VALORANT and Champions from surrounding subcultures and fandoms, Riot Games is working with the hottest OPM and pop stars in the Philippines, including SB19’s Josh Cullen, Zack Tabudlo, Al James, G22, and KAIA. Come see them and listen to them play and sing.
Jason Roberto also stated, “Hosting Champions 2024 in Seoul was very exciting for us given Korea’s rich pop culture and influence in the Philippines. And with the rising popularity of P-pop in the country, we saw an opportunity to really amplify VALORANT’s cultural resonance for both players and fans of the esport.” He added, “It’s all about uniting a diverse global community around a shared passion for quality competition and stylish gameplay that defies cultural expectations within and beyond the game.”
