Google has unveiled Android 12 (Go edition), a version of its latest operating system designed for low-end smartphones with limited hardware power.

To recall, Google started launching Android (Go edition) in 2017 and now has over 200 million people actively using it. They aim to provide more people with access to the advantages of Android and Google through low-end smartphones.
Android 12 (Go edition) claims to be a faster, smarter, and more secure version of the lightweight operating system. Phones running Android 12 (Go edition) will open apps up to 30% quicker than previous Go edition Android versions. They also make the animation smoother to help more to launch apps quicker. It will also come with SplashScreen API, allowing developers can provide you with a smooth experience when you launch their apps.
Moreover, it can also give longer battery life since it has a better hibernating feature. It will automatically preserve battery life and storage space by hibernating applications that aren’t used in a long time. Meanwhile, the redesigned Files Go app allows you to retrieve files within 30 days. That helps you to free up space in the meantime.
There’s now an option to listen to the news and translate any on-screen content into your preferred language. This new feature of Android 12 (Go edition) helps you understand your content easier. You can access this when opening the recent apps screen.
You may also save data by sharing apps directly with nearby devices via Nearby Share and Google Play. It also allows you to effortlessly switch to a guest profile before sharing your device with another person. To make this process easier, profiles will be accessible immediately from the lock screen.
Lastly, it will provide greater privacy control, allowing you to determine how much private information your applications may access.
This new Android 12 (Go edition) will be available on devices in 2022.
