HONOR Philippines is about to launch the HONOR X8d soon, which is claimed to be a smartphone perfect for students. We have already been testing this device for almost a week, and as you can notice, it has different specs and design compared to its predecessors.

First look at the HONOR X8d
The new HONOR X8d has a refreshed design and arrives with a different camera layout and texture. Although I am a fan of its predecessors’ leather-like design, this new device looks sleeker and more elegant, especially the Light Blue colorway we have. Other available colorways are Velvet Grey and Velvet Black.

Meanwhile, the HONOR X8d has a larger 6.77-inch AMOLED display with FHD resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 3,840Hz PWM dimming, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and up to 3,000 nits of max brightness.

For cameras, this phone boasts a 108MP main camera, a 5MP wide lens, and a 16MP selfie camera. Unlike its predecessor, it opted for a 2MP depth sensor, which is not that useful most of the time. We already took some shots, and we are excited to share our insights in our in-depth review that will be published soon.

The HONOR X8d also highlights its AI editing features like AI Eraser, Face Tune, AI Beauty, AI Upscale, AI Cutout, and AI Outpainting. These are really useful, especially if you want to level up your photos.
Speaking of AI, it also has an AI Mobile Assistant button on its left side that is basically a shortcut button to some apps and actions.

Under the hood, the HONOR X8d also received a performance upgrade since it is now powered by the new Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 chipset paired with 8GB RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. Our review unit is the 8GB/256GB variant, which is already enough for casual usage. With this upgrade, we expect snappier performance than its predecessor.
Like recently launched HONOR devices, the HONOR X8d also now features a larger 7,000mAh battery capacity that supports 45W HONOR SuperCharge. With its specs, that battery capacity is sufficient for most activities you can do on the phone.
Initial Thoughts
The HONOR X8d comes with new features and upgrades, so we look forward to its capabilities, especially since we also tested and reviewed its predecessors. But according to the specsheet, it can surely run our usual apps without any problems.
However, we are lowering our expectations because it is still a budget phone. Since it is marketed for students, I hope HONOR Philippines will not price it very high, even though we are experiencing a shortage of RAM and storage.
Price and Availability
The HONOR X8d is set to launch on March 19, 2026, so stay tuned for the price reveal and availability.
