Infinix has announced the really fast 180W Thunder Charge Technology for its coming flagship smartphones this second half of the year.

If we notice, it is not just smartphones nowadays that are getting better, but also the capabilities of their chargers. Ultra-fast charging technology becomes popular in mid-range and flagship devices recently. Today, Infinix unveiled its latest charger with 180W of power which will be available soon.

This charger will give a faster and safer charging experience for advanced smart devices. Infinix claimed that it can charge a phone with a 4,500mAh battery 1-50% in just four minutes. To recall, their last year’s 160W charging technology can fully charge a 4,000mAh battery in ten minutes. However, the company did not disclose any information on how this new charging technology can fully charge the said 4,500mAh battery.

“Following last year’s Infinix 160W fast charging Concept Phone release, Infinix 180W Thunder Charge is another industry breakthrough that delivers ultra-fast charging technology to the public. Infinix aims to keep improving daily efficiency through iteration and innovation of fast charging technology so that users around the world can be the first to experience efficient and convenient digital life,” said Joseph Cernitchez, Marketing Head of Infinix.

Furthermore, Infinix mentioned that this very fast charger is safe. It uses 8C batteries, which decreases the possibility of overheating. The 8C cell has reduced internal resistance as compared to a standard single electrode lug construction and a multi-electrode lug. That can cut internal resistance by more than 50% and create less heat.

Because the 180W Thunder Charge uses two 8C-rated batteries in series, the charging power of each cell is only 90W during charging, decreasing heat and increasing lifespan. Besides, it additionally uses automated bidirectional-power supply technology to extend phone battery life by 2% as compared to typically double-cell battery-designed phones.

Don’t worry, it is still safe!

To protect smartphones, chargers, and charging cords, the 180W Thunder Charge includes 111 software and hardware security protection methods. To ensure the safety of the smartphone’s system, the security protection is activated under abnormal scenarios such as high temperature, increased voltage, electromagnetic interference, and more.

It also features 20 temperature sensors spread in USB inputs, charging, chips, on the battery, and other spots inside the device to monitor the temperature. Furthermore, the 180W Thunder Charge cable has an Infinix special encryption chip that generates 180W power transfer for ultra-fast charging.

The 180W Thunder Charge can also automatically detect the power transmission capability of the cable and adapt accordingly. When you use a different cable without Infinix’s special encryption chip, it restricts power to 60W/100W to ensure safe charging.
