Last August 2021, Intel posted a sneak peek of Intel Arc graphics pre-production. Now, they finally unveiled its first Arc GPUs but only for laptops.
Intel Arc mobile graphics are finally official!
This newly unveiled Intel Arc comes with A-Series mobile graphics which have three categories. The Arc 3 will arrive in entry-level laptops that can provide decent gaming performance. It comes in two models, the Arc A350M and A370M.
There’s also the Arc 5 for midrange laptops designed to deliver advanced gaming performance. It only comes with the Arc A550M model but this GPU doubled the performance of its little brother.
For a high-performance gaming experience, Intel also produced the Arc 7 series, the A730M and A770M. As you can see in the image above, it comes with great specifications. However, Arc 5 and Arc 7 will be available in early summer.
Entering the graphics card competition, this Intel Arc will battle against NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards. Intel uses its Xe HPG graphics architecture to power these Arc GPUs.
According to Intel, the Arc 3 laptops achieve 60fps in triple-A games at 1080p resolution on high and medium settings. Meanwhile, it can reach 90fps in esports games which is double the speeds available with its integrated graphics.
Moreover, each Arc GPU may handle a total of four HDMI 2.0b and DisplayPort 1.4a outputs. Besides, it can support up to 360Hz at 1080p and 1440p resolution as well as 120Hz at 4K or 60Hz at 8K resolution.
The Arc A-series is also the first to support hardware-accelerated AV1 encoding, 50 times faster than software encoding. With that, it is best for content creators out there that search for a good editing laptop.
In the Arc A-Series, only the Arc 3 is currently available, but they will also release the other soon. The Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro will be the first laptop to use Arc 3 graphics. It will also be available from other OEMs, including ASUS, Lenovo, HP, Acer, and more, so stay tuned!
